Based on investigations of mosses in Iran, a new species of Syntrichia, namely, S. sinensis (Müll. Hal.) Ochyra belonging to the family Pottiaceae is found growing in W. Azarbaijan province (NW Iran) which is considered as a new report for the Iranian bryoflora.
