چکیده

Background: Several studies have shown that leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is one of the most important cytokinesparticipating in the process of embryo implantation and pregnancy, while, the role of this factor on vascular endothelialfactor-A (VEGF-A), as one of the most important angiogenic factor, has not been fully investigated yet. The aimof this study was to evaluate the effect of LIF on gene expression of VEGF in the choriocarcinoma cells (JEG-3).Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, JEG-3 choriocarcinoma cells were treated with different concentrationsof LIF (1, 10, and 50 ng) for 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours. Expression of VEGF was analyzed by real-time PCR.Delta CTs were subjected to one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a post hoc Tukey’s test by SPSS version 25.0software for data analyzing. Results: In the stimulated cells, different concentrations of LIF caused significant decrease of VEGF gene expression(P<0.05) at 12, 24 and 48 hours. In contrast, it was increased after 72 hours (P<0.001). Analysis of data after 6hours also showed that level of VEGF gene expression was significantly decreased by increasing LIF concentration(P<0.001).Conclusion: Expression level of VEGF gene was decreased in trophoblast cells (except after 72 hours) under theeffect of different concentrations of LIF in a time-dependent manner. So, this study showed that further studies areneeded to determine the effect of LIF on other angiogenic factors in trophoblast cells.

Evaluation of Periodontal Disease Effect on the Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Nerve Growth Factor in Dental Pulp

Introduction: Researchers have always been interested in the close and mutual relationship between the pulp and periodontal tissues. Although the effects of pulpal disease on periodontium have been well known, the clear relationship between periodontitis and pulp has not been documented . It seems that bacteria and inflammatory products of periodontitis can affect pulp through accessory canals,...

P-182: The Role of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Gene Expression in Patients with the History of Endometriosis

Background: Endometriosis is the presence of endometrium- like tissue in sites outside the uterine cavity, primarily on the pelvic peritoneum and ovaries. Ectopic endometrium for replacement and growth require to blood supply. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is one of the most important intermediate of locality angiogenesis that product by monocytes and macrophages. This study evaluat...

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Production is Regulated by Gene Polymorphisms

Background: Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has a key role in angiogene-sis and in transplantation. The level of VEGF is related to the differences in the DNA sequence of its promoter region. Objectives: In this study, the association between the combination of VEGF –1154 G and –2578 C alleles and VEGF production by LPS-stimulated PBMCs was investigated. In addition; the relationship ...

Quantitation of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Interleukin-6 in Different Stages of Breast Cancer

Background: Determination of the impact of angiogenesis on tumor development and progression is essential. This study aimed to determine the serum levels of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) in breast carcinoma, and to correlate them with tumor size, lymph node involvement, and cancer stage. Methods: Under aseptic precautions 5 ml of venous blood was collecte...

Molecular Study of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Gene in Iranian Patients after Myocardial Infarction

Background: Stimulation of collateral artery growth (arteriogenesis) and/or capillary network growth (angiogenesis) would be beneficial to the patients with myocardial infarction. To understand the central role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in biological angiogenesis, we performed molecular analysis of the VEGF gene in patients afflicted with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Me...
