چکیده مقاله:

Objective(s): Global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (GCIR) causes disturbances in brain functions as well as other organs such as kidney. Our aim was to evaluate the protective effects of ellagic acid (EA) on certain renal disfunction after GCIR. Materials and Methods: Adult male Wistar rats (n=32, 250-300 g) were used. GCIR was induced by bilateral vertebral and common carotid arteries occlusion (4-VO). Animal groups were: 1) received DMSO/saline (10%) as solvent of EA, 2) solvent + GCIR, 3) EA + GCIR, and 4) EA. Under anesthesia with ketamine/xylazine, GCIR was induced (20 and 30 min respectively) in related groups. EA (100 mg/kg, dissolved in DMSO/saline (10%) or solvent was administered (1.5 ml/kg) orally for 10 consecutive days to the related groups. EEG was recorded from NTS in GCIR treated groups. Results: Our data showed that: a) EEG in GCIR treated groups was flattened. b) GCIR reduced GFR (P

Therapeutic effects of curcumin on the functional disturbances and oxidative stress induced by renal ischemia/reperfusion in rats

Objectives: Curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties. The objective of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of curcumin on functional disturbances, oxidative stress, and leukocyte infiltration induced by renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). Materials and Methods: Animals were randomly divided into 9 groups. The groups with 24-h reperfusion consisted of sham-24h,...

Pretreatment effects of metformin on behavioral manifestations of global ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats

Introduction: Metformin (MET) as an oral antidiabetic drug has pleiotropic effects such as antioxidative and neuroprotective properties. In the current study we aimed to investigate the probable effects of Pretreatment MET therapy in global ischemia-reperfusion in rats. Materials and Methods: In this study, 40 male Wistar rats (200-220 g) were used. Animals were randomly divided into four g...

The Study of Petoxifylline Drug Effects on Renal Apoptosis and Bcl2 Gene Expression Changes Following Ischemic Reperfusion Injury in Rat

Background & Target: Ischemia Reperfusion injury is the tissue damage caused when blood supply returns to the tissue after a period of ischemia or lack of oxygen. In this study, the effect of pentoxyfylline on bcl2 gene expression changes and cell injury in kidney of rat following Ischemia Reperfusion were evaluated. Methods: In this experimental study, 20 male wistar rats with average weight of...
