چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objectives: It has been reported that antioxidant supplementation may reduce the oxidative stress caused by exercise activities. But according to the type of activity, dose and type of supplement, the results in this area are contradictory. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of short-term coenzyme Q10 supplementation on malondialdehyde (MDA) and serum catalase enzyme activity following moderate and severe acute resistance training in inactive female students. Methods: Twenthy seven non-active female students were selected to participate in the study. They were randomly divided into homogeneous and equal groups (two groups of resistance and one control group). The control group did not intervene; however, experimental groups of the study were included moderate acute resistance (70% 1RM) and severe acute resistance training (85% 1RM) which consumed Q10 as 30 mg/d. The MDA and catalase indices were measured by ELISA method and the results were analyzed by repeated ANOVA, Bonferroni and independent t-tests at p <0.05. Results: Moderate and severe acute resistance trainings did not change the MDA and catalytic activity, but moderate and severe acute and moderate acute resistance training with reduces MDA (p = 0.01 and p = 0.06) and catalase (p = 0.004 and p = 0.007), but between the effects of two acute resistance trainings and the effect of two types of acute resistance trainings along with supplementation on these variables no significant difference was observed. Conclusion: Coenzyme Q10 supplementation reduces these two indices and prevents undesirable and proba ble free radical effects.

The Effects of Progressive Resistance Training on Malondialdehyde Concentration and Superoxide Dismutase Enzyme Activity in Inactive Elderly Women

Background and Aim: Aging process is associated with increased free radicals and cellular damage. However, resistance training may cause balance of the oxidative and antioxidant system in the elderly. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of progressive resistance training (PRT) on malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme ...

The effect of short-term colostrum supplementation on serum malondialdehyde levels and total antioxidant capacity due to acute resistance in healthy men

Background &aim:During intense exercise reactive species produce oxygen that results in cell damage. It seems that the use of antioxidant supplements reduces the oxidative stress caused by such exercises. Therefore the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of short-term colostrum supplementation on serum malondialdehyde levels and total antioxidant capacity induced by acute resist...
