The melt-phase synthesis of dioctyltin (IV) and triphenyltin (IV) benzoates were carried outusing stoichiometric amounts of benzoic acids and the corresponding organotin (IV) compounds.The reagents were ground together in a mortar and fed into a boiling glass tube.
