[ 2 ] - Selective and Efficient Solvent Extraction of Copper(II) Ions from Chloride Solutions by Oxime Extractants

Oxime extractants 3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methyl benzaldehyde oxime (HL1) and 3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methoxy benzaldehyde oxime (HL2) were synthesized and characterized by conventional spectroscopic methods. Suitable lipophilic nature of the prepared extractants allowed examining the ability of these molecules for extr...

[ 3 ] - Selective Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Lead Ions Using Newly Synthesized Extractant 2-(Dibutylcarbamoyl)benzoic Acid

A new carboxylic acid extractant, named 2-(dibutylcarbamoyl)benzoic acid, is prepared and its potential for selective solvent extraction and recovery of lead ions from industrial samples was investigated. The slope analysis indicated that the lead ions are extracted by formation of 1:2 metal to ligand complexes. The effect of the parameters influencing the extraction efficiency including kind o...

[ 4 ] - Effect of Polyethylene Glycols Dissolved in Aqueous Phase on the Extraction-Separation of La(III), Eu(III) and Er(III) Ions with Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric Acid

The present work concerns on the investigation of the role of polyethylene glycols (PEGs) as masking agent for amelioration of extraction-separation of La(III), Eu(III) and Er(III) ions by the acidic extractant bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA). The studied solvent extraction system is based on the combination of chelating effect of DEHPA in the organic phase on the one hand, and the bin...

[ 5 ] - Th(IV)/U(VI) Sorption on Modified SBA–15 Mesoporous Materials in Fixed–Bed Column

The sorption of thorium and uranium ions by functionalized SBA–15 mesoporous silica materials with Schiff base ligating groups N–propylsalicylaldimine (SBA/SA) and ethylenediaminepropylesalicylaldimine (SBA/EnSA) from aqueous solution was investigated in fixed-bed column method. The TEMPeffect of pH, sample solution volume, and the column design parameters such as sample and eluent flow rat...

[ 6 ] - Selective and Efficient Ligandless Water-in-Oil Emulsion Liquid Membrane Transport of Thorium(IV) Ions

The present paper concerns on the selective and very efficient transport of thorium(IV) ions from aqueous solutions through an emulsion liquid membranes composed by paraffin and a surfactant, without carrier requirement. The influence of pH of the external aqueous phase, the surfactant concentration in the membrane phase, the type, and concentration of th...

[ 7 ] - Extraction-Separation of Eu(III)/Th(IV) Ions with a Phosphorylated Ligand in an Ionic Liquid

Extraction-separation of Eu(III) and Th(IV) ions from nitrate media into the ionic liquid 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate by a phosphorylated salen extractant, bis(chlorophosphoryle)decahydro-2,4-di(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzo[d][1,3,6]oxadiazepine (DPO), is investigated. It is found that Eu(III) ions are extracted via a solvation mechanism, and the extraction of Th(IV) i...

[ 8 ] - A Study on the Extraction of Cd(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) Ions by Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric Acid and 2-Thenoyltrifluoroacetone

Keep in mind the importance of cadmium, cobalt and nickel ions as environmentally and economically strategic heavy metals, the application of two acidic extractants, named bis(2-diethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA) and 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone (HTTA), was assessed for the extraction-recovery of these ions from leached solution of spent rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries. The conditions for leach...

[ 9 ] - Mobile Carrier Properties of N2O2- and N3O2-Type Schiff Base Molecules Towards Copper(II) Ions

Mobile carrier properties of two schiff base ligands, named <span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-langua...

[ 10 ] - Extractive Properties of Tri-n-octylphosphine Oxide Towards Thorium (IV) and Europium (III) Ions in Aqueous Nitrate Media

Phosphoryl containing ligand tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in dichloromethane has been used as an extracting agent for tetravalent thorium and trivalent europium ions from their 1 M sodium nitrates. The equilibrium data reveal that both ions are extracted as the complexes at 1:3 metal/ligand ratio. The values of conditional extraction equilibrium constant (Kex) show the superior extract...

[ 11 ] - Wastewater Treatment by Using Polyurethane Foams Modified with Bis-[2-ethylhexyl] Phosphoric Acid: Kinetics, Equilibrium and Desorption Studies

Background: Water pollution is an important environmental problem, undoubtedly, the presence of toxic heavy metals forms the main source of water contamination. Sorption characteristics of polyurethane foams modified with bis (2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (DEHPA) for the removal of zinc, lead and cadmium ions from contaminated solutions were investigated. Methods: Operating variables, such as ...
