Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) which is a meshless and full Lagrangian method is employed to simulate nonlinear hydrodynamic behavior in a wide variety of engineering application including free surface water waves. In the present study, a numerical particle-based model is developed by the authors using MPS method to simulate different wave problems in the coastal waters. In this model flui...

We quantify the important effect of strong final state interactions in the weak K → 2π amplitudes, using the measured π–π phase shifts with J = 0 and I = 0, 2. The final rescattering of the two pions provides a strong enhancement of the ∆I = 1/2 amplitude, which so far has been neglected in the theoretical predictions of ε′/ε. This correction increases the Standard Model prediction of ε′/ε to v...

2. In the context of a balanced one-way random effect model where the εij’s are N = nk i.i.d. N(0, σ), εij − εi. and εi′. − ε.. are independent for all choices of i, j, and i′. Proof: It suffices to show that cov(εij − εi., εi′.− ε..) = 0 for all i, i′, and j due to normality. case 1 : i = i′. cov(εij − εi., εi. − ε..) = cov(εij, εi.) − cov(εij, ε..) − cov(εi., εi.) + cov(εi., ε..) = σ/n− σ/nk ...

In homogenization, two-scale models arise, e.g., by applying Nguetseng’s notion of two-scale convergence to nonlinear PDEs. A homogenized single-scale problem may then be derived via scale-transformations. A variational formulation due to Fitzpatrick is here used for the scale-integration of two-scale maximal monotone relations, and for the converse operation of scale-disintegration. These resu...

We consider a Gaussian diffusion Xt (Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process) with drift coefficient γ and diffusion coefficient σ, and an approximating process Y ε t converging to Xt in L2 as ε → 0. We study estimators γ̂ε, σ̂ ε which are asymptotically equivalent to the Maximum likelihood estimators of γ and σ, respectively. We assume that the estimators are based on the available N = N(ε) observations extr...

In the framework of various Glauber-like models we compute several correlation observables in nuclear collisions at the SPS, RHIC, and LHC energies. We analyze fluctuations of the eccentricity of the fireball created in the collision, in particular the variable-axes harmonic moments ε∗, as well as the fluctuations of multiplicity of charged particles. We find moderate model dependence of the sc...

We formulate a set of Bell's inequalities for the system of two correlated neutral kaons coming from the decay of a φ-meson, without assuming CP and CP T invariance. We show that a non-vanishing value of the phenomenological parameter ε ′ would violate such inequalities, ruling out Bell's locality.

Since the 1964 discovery of KL → π+π− [1], understanding CP violation has been a major goal of particle physics. Subsequent experiments showed that the dominant mechanism of CP violation in neutral kaons (still the only particle system in which CP violation has been observed) is a small asymmetry between K0 → K and K → K0 mixing. This asymmetry, referred to as indirect CP violation, results in ...
