The syntheses and the electrochemical spectroscopic properties of a suite of asymmetrical bistridentate cyclometalated Ru(II) complexes bearing terminal triphenylamine (TPA) substituents are reported. These complexes, which contain structural design elements common to both inorganic and organic dyes that exhibit superior power conversion efficiencies in the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC), are...

The diiron carbonyl cluster is held by a native CXXC motif, which includes Cys14 and Cys17, in the cytochrome c sequence. It is found that the diiron carbonyl complex works well as a catalyst for H(2) evolution. It has a TON of ∼80 over 2 h at pH 4.7 in the presence of a Ru-photosensitizer and ascorbate as a sacrificial reagent in aqueous media.

We present the synthesis of the new heteropolytopic penta(4-ethynylphenyl)cyclopentadiene ligand, its complexation through the Cp ring to ruthenium tris(indazolyl)borate and through the terminal alkyne groups to five ferrocenyl ethynyl platinum units, yielding an undecanuclear heterotrimetallic complex.

A commercially available ruthenium(II) PNP-type pincer catalyst (Ru-Macho) promotes the formation of α-chiral tert-butanesulfinylamines from racemic secondary alcohols and Ellman's chiral tert-butanesulfinamide via a hydrogen borrowing strategy. The formation of α-chiral tert-butanesulfinylamines occurs in yields ranging from 31% to 89% with most examples giving >95:5 dr.

The title complex, [RuCl(2)(C(25)H(26)N(2))]·CH(2)Cl(2), is best thought of as containing an octa-hedrally coordinated Ru center with the arene occupying three sites. Two Ru-Cl bonds and one Ru-carbene bond complete the distorted octa-hedron. The carbene portion of the ligand is a benzimidazole ring. This ring is connected to the C(6)H(2)(CH(3))(3) arene group by a CH(2) bridge. This leads to a...

The air stable asarone-derived Ru carbene 16, a robust olefin metathesis catalyst, can be easily separated after reaction by deposition on silica gel and reused up to nine times. This procedure provides products of excellent purity with low Ru content.

The pincer complex (PNN)RuH(CO), with a de-aromatized pyridine in the ligand backbone, is shown to react with nitriles in a metal-ligand cooperative manner. This leads to the formation of a series of complexes with new Ru-N(nitrile) and C(ligand)-C(nitrile) bonds. The initial nitrile cycloaddition products, the ketimido complexes 3, have a Brønsted basic (nitrile-derived) Ru-N fragment. This is...

Small organic molecules provide a promising solution for the requirement to store large amounts of hydrogen in a future hydrogen-based energy system. Herein, we report that diolefin-ruthenium complexes containing the chemically and redox non-innocent ligand trop2dad catalyse the production of H2 from formaldehyde and water in the presence of a base. The process involves the catalytic conversion...
