Lithium-ion battery cells are multiscale and multiphysics systems. Design material parameters influence the macroscopically observable cell performance in a complex nonlinear way. Herein, development application of three methodologies for model-based interpretation visualization these influences presented: 1) deconvolution overpotential contributions, including ohmic, concentration, activation ...

In his pioneering work to unravel the catalytic power of enzymes, Warshel has pertinently validated that electrostatic interactions play a major role in activation substrates. Implementing such chemical artifice molecular catalysts may help improve their properties. this study, series tetra-, di-, and mono-substituted iron porphyrins with cationic imidazolium groups were designed. Their presenc...

Surface modification is a promising approach to modulate the electrocatalyst properties for their further use in energy storage and conversion. In this work, electrochemical-based was proposed generate metallic particles-supported graphite rod (GR). The based on cathodic activation of GR presence alkali metal salts dry organic solvent. activated possess high reducing power that successfully emp...

A simple strategy to immobilize highly efficient ruthenium based molecular water-oxidation catalysts on the basal-plane pyrolytic graphite electrode (BPG) by polymerization has been demonstrated. The electrode 1@BPG has obtained a high initial turnover frequency (TOF) of 10.47 s(-1) at ∼700 mV overpotential, and a high turnover number (TON) up to 31600 in 1 h electrolysis.

The covalent grafting of an Fe porphyrin on carbon nanotubes led to efficient electroreduction of CO2 into CO in water (pH 7.3). CO was obtained with high selectivity and turnover at 0.5 V overpotential. The grafting strategy may be further extended to various conductive and semi-conductive surfaces.

A large electrochemical isotopic effect is observed upon the electrodeposition of lithium from solutions of propylene carbonate producing isotopically light metal deposits. The magnitude of fractionation is controlled by the applied overpotential and is largest close to equilibrium. Calculated partition function ratios for tetrahedrally coordinated lithium complexes and metallic lithium predict...

Develop a high throughput (>10 • ) system for the synthesis of potential metal-binding peptide catalysts of the water splitting reaction directly on an array of electrodes. Quantify the baseline catalysis rate of the system. • Through iterative rounds of synthesis and analysis, • improve the efficiency of catalysis (decrease the observed overpotential for the system) by 15% in each of three years.

A facile, one-pot solvothermal method is developed to synthesize MoS2 nanoflowers (MoS2NFs) coated on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) paper. The resulting MoS2NF/rGO paper serves as a freestanding, flexible and durable working electrode for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), exhibiting an overpotential lowered to -0.19 V with a Tafel slope of ∼95 mV per decade.
