In the last decade there has been an ongoing interest in string comparison problems; to a large extend the interest was stimulated by genome rearrangement problems in computational biology but related problems appear in many other areas of computer science. Particular attention has been given to the problem of sorting by reversals (SBR): given two strings, A and B, find the minimum number of re...

This paper introduces simulation-based re-enactment (SBR) as a novel method of documenting and studying the recent history of surgical practice. SBR aims to capture ways of surgical working that remain within living memory but have been superseded due to technical advances and changes in working patterns. Inspired by broader efforts in historical re-enactment and the use of simulation within su...

With the rise of high resolution multiple input output (MIMO) systems, radar became an important sensor in development Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving applications. Autonomous will rely strongly on artificial intelligence. Since most modern classification algorithms are based neural networks, they require huge amounts data to perform well, especially unexpected ...

Resistance to soybean rust (SBR), caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi Syd. & Syd., has been identified in many soybean germplasm accessions and is conferred by either dominant or recessive genes that have been mapped to six independent loci (Rpp1 -Rpp6), but No U.S. cultivars are resistant to SBR. The cultivar DT 2000 (PI 635999) has resistance to P. pachyrhizi isolates and field populations from t...

We have carried out continuous and step uniaxial extension experiments on monodisperse and bidisperse styrene-butadiene random copolymers (SBR) to demonstrate that their nonlinear rheological behavior can be understood in terms of yielding through disintegration of the chain entanglement network and rubber-like rupture via non-Gaussian chain stretching leading to scission. In continuous extensi...

1 Abstract This paper describes some recent work to extend the capability of the Epsilon™ Radar Cross Section (RCS) prediction code to model the scattering from diffusive and grating structures. The paper provides an overview of basic approaches to the calculation of multiple scattering interactions and then describes the Diffuse ray and Huygens algorithm extensions. A basic Shooting Bouncing R...

In this work, the influence of bisphenol A (BPA) on biological wastewater treatment was studied. For it, two sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) were operated for three months. Both SBRs fed with synthetic (SW), adding 1 mg·L−1 BPA into feed reactor SBR-BPA, while other one without as a control (SBR–B). addition, experiments performed adapted and non-adapted activated sludge, simulating reaction s...

This paper presents an undergraduate student research project which involved a new power diode called the Super Barrier Rectifier (SBR) diode. Several projects incorporating SBR diodes in dc-dc converters performed by undergraduate students will be described. Challenges in conducting these projects along with results will also be discussed. BACKGROUND & AIMS Intestinal adaptation is a compensatory response to the massive loss of small intestine after surgical resection. We investigated the role of intestinal epithelial cell-specific mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (i-mTORC1) in intestinal adaptation after massive small bowel resection (SBR). METHODS We performed 50% proximal SBR on mice to study adaptation. To manipulate...
