Abstract Over the last few decades, different mathematical methods have been used to design and analyze architectural spaces. Meanwhile, the graph theory provides an abstract model to study the spatial configuration, so that a simple and flexible mathematical framework is obtained to analyze the spatial topological features and their relationship with social and functional concepts in architec...
New architectural innovations include more powerful, higher capacity configurable logic blocks (CLB), new Active Interconnect technology, higher bandwidth SelectI/O input/output (I/O) interfaces, a larger and more flexible allocation of distributed and block RAM, and enhanced arithmetic and embedded 18-bit multiplier capability. Together, these architectural features provide significant improve...
We introduce a shape categorisation method for architectural drawings that takes shape characteristics derived from those drawings as features. We propose a feature-based shape analysis procedure and a formal model of shape categorisation based upon the measurement of featural similarity of shapes. Shape categorisation is demonstrated in experiments on architectural drawings.
The histories of architectural design and town planning are replete with references to creating a better quality of human life. One of the approaches to enhancing human existence is Vāstu Vidyā, the knowledge of design and building from the ancient Vedic tradition. More recently, Vāstu Vidyā has been repurposed to include not only architectural practice and construction but also considered i...
A number of Internet applications rely on the Domain Name System (DNS) to support their operations. Many applications use the DNS to locate services for a domain; some, for example, transform identifiers other than domain names into formats that the DNS can process, and then fetch application data or service location data from the DNS. Proposals incorporating sophisticated application behavior ...
When facing partial evidence on how architectural objects evolved through time (often due to uncompleted information), it is important to provide the researcher with tools for a cross-examination of cases that may help him better delineate possible values for lacking information. In the case of architecture, we deal with data that can be attached to a given location (distribution in time and sp...
This paper studies the speci cation and testing of two main architectural features. We consider restricted forms of instruction pipelining and parallel memory models present in the SPARC speci cation. The feasibility of using an automatic tool, the concurrency work bench, has been demonstrated.
Seven grain-form relationships, as indicated by the split-line patterns, are recognized in the cortical bone of the adult human skull: (1) random pattern of braincase, (2) planes and (3) ridges with elongated grain, (4) troughs with transverse grain, (5) concavities with circular grain, ( 6 ) edges, and (7) spines. Concavities may show superimposed trough or ridge structure, and troughs may be ...
This paper describes a timing tool being developed by a real-time research group at Seoul National University. Our focus is on the issues resulting from advanced architectural features such as pipelined execution and cache memories found in many modern RISC-style processors. For each architectural feature we state the issues and explain our approach.
There is a growing need to reduce the cycle of business information systems development and make it independent of underlying technologies. Model-driven synthesis of software offers solutions to these problems. This article describes a method for synthesizing business software implementations from technology independent business models. The synthesis of business software implementation performe...
