Ionic self-assembly of the peptide RADARADARADARADA (RADA16-1) may form a well-defined nanofiber and eventually a hydrogel scaffold, with a water content of over 99.5%. This leads to the establishment of a nanofiber barrier that can be used to achieve complete hemostasis in less than 20 s in multiple tissues and in a variety of different wounds. In the present study, the nanofiber scaffolds of ...

A bioinspired peptide amphiphile nanofiber template for formation of one-dimensional Pd nanostructures is demonstrated. The Pd and peptide nanocatalyst system enabled efficient catalytic activity in Suzuki coupling reactions in water at room temperature. The nanocatalyst system can be easily separated and reused in successive reactions without significant loss in activity and structural integrity.

The aim of the present study was to improve the immunogenicity of peptide epitope vaccines using novel nanocarriers based on self-assembling materials. Several studies demonstrated that peptide antigens in nanoparticulate form induce stronger immune responses than their soluble forms. However, several issues such as poor loading and risk of inducing T cell anergy due to premature release of ant...

Self-assembling peptide nanofibers have emerged as important nanobiomaterials, with such applications as delivery of therapeutic agents and vaccines, nanofabrication and biomineralization, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Recently a new class of self-assembling peptides has been introduced, which takes into consideration amino acid pairing (AAP) strategies in the peptide sequence d...

Atypical angiogenesis is one of the major symptoms of severe eye diseases, including corneal neovascularization, and the complex nature of abnormal vascularization requires targeted methods with high biocompatibility. The targeting of VEGF is the most common approach for preventing angiogenesis, and the LPPR peptide sequence is known to strongly inhibit VEGF activity by binding to the VEGF rece...

We report on the preparation of the first material for therapeutic delivery of CO. A peptide amphiphile was synthesized with a covalently attached ruthenium tricarbonyl. Self-assembled nanofiber gels containing this peptide spontaneously released CO with prolonged release kinetics compared to soluble CO donors. Oxidatively stressed cardiomyocytes had improved viability when treated with this pe...
