This case report describes a rare rectal bezoar in a healthy young woman who had recently consumed large quantities of sunflower seeds. A 21-year-old healthy woman was admitted with abdominal pain, rectal pain, and constipation ...
A 57-year-old woman presented with dysphagia and postprandial epigastric fullness for about two years. She had no medical history that supported the presence of trichophagy or any psychiatric or neurological disorders. They mentio...
Phytobezoars are a rare cause of small bowel obstruction (SBO) but must be consideration especially in patients with previous gastric surgeriesand the elderly population. Preoperative computed tomography (CT) should done to differentiate between bezoars and other causes SBO. If non operative management fails, surgical removal is recommended treatment.
The Rapunzel syndrome is an unusual form of trichobezoar found in patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, trichotillomania (habit of hair pulling) and trichophagia (morbid habit of chewing the hair), consequently developing gastric bezoars. The principal symptoms are vomiting and epigastric pain. In this case report, we describe this syndrome in a young girl.
