This paper describes a modification of the conventional M-ary Differential Phase Shift Keying MDPSK scheme. This method reduces the number of phases which improves the performance of the system by applying a mathematical method from the combinatorial theory called Balanced Incomplete Block Design BIB-design. It is a coding modulation technique in which the signal is represented by a set of phas...

We give equivalent characterizations for those n x n complex matrices A whose unitary orbits %?(A) and C-numerical ranges WC{A) satisfy ei8&(A) = f/(A) or e'e WC(A) = WC(A) for some real 0 (or for all real 0 ). In particular, we show that they are the block-cyclic or block-shift operators. Some of these results are extended to infinite-dimensional Hubert spaces.

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) is a digital logic architecture that uses single electrons in arrays of quantum dots to perform binary operations. A QCA latch is an elementary building block which can be used to build shift registers and logic devices for clocked QCA architectures. We discuss the operation of a QCA latch and a shift register and present an analysis of the types and properti...

A problem of personnel scheduling in a multiskilled environment is addressed. This problem is treated in an integrated manner, modeling shift scheduling and rostering as one problem. Additionally, the integrated approach allows also to better model intraday breaks and days-off scheduling. Alternative MIP formulations are presented which lead to optimal shift schedulings and task assignments. Im...

BM3D frames based formulation provides new perspectives for the use of BM3D modeling in the circular shift-invariant reconstruction, but cannot be applied in the non-variant reconstruction. In order to solve this problem, a radial blur physical model was established, in this paper rectangular block replaced sector block in rectangular coordinate image, the matching area and restoration coeffici...

This paper generalizes previous optimal upper bounds on the minimum Euclidean distance for phase shift keying (PSK) block codes, that are explicit in three parameters: alphabet size, block length and code size. The bounds are primarily generalized from codes over symmetric PSK to codes over asymmetric PSK and also to general alphabet size. Furthermore, block codes are optimized in the presence ...

Block error rate performance of subcarrier intensity modulation based optical wireless communication systems is analysed over Gamma–Gamma and lognormal atmospheric turbulence channels. The analysis is applicable to non-coherent binary modulations and coherent binary phase shift keying. The special cases of K-distributed strong turbulence channel and negative exponential turbulence channel are a...

In this correspondence, block and convolutional coding for Gaussian minimum shift keying (GMSK) in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels is investigated. The performance improvement that can be obtained without an increase in bandwidth is found for block and convolutional codes with various block lengths and constraint lengths, respectively, when a simple suboptimal demodulation scheme ...
