Here, we report the complete genome sequence of B. pseudomallei vgh07. This is an epidemic strain that was isolated from a melioidosis patient with arthro-osteomyelitis in Taiwan.
Melioidosis has been considered an emerging disease in Brazil since the first cases were reported to occur in the northeast region. The worldwide epidemiology of melioidosis is changing. We describe a case of acute melioidosis in Spain in a patient who had traveled to Africa. A novel sequence type of Burkholderia pseudomallei was identified in this patient. Clinicians should be aware of the possibility of melioidosis in travelers returning from melioidosis-nonendemic regions.
