The activity of a Te-MgO catalyst prepared by adsorbing Te vapor onto MgO powder was determined by dehydrogenation of indane, 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene, cumene, and p-cymene. The activity of the Te-MgO catalyst was higher than that of the MgO catalyst in most of the cases investigated. The selectivity of the former catalyst was much higher than that of the later in all cases studied. The Te-MgO ...

A dual catalyst containing Pd and CuFe(2)O(4) nanoparticles in a silica shell exhibits >98% conversion of arylacetylenes to related styrenes with selectivity greater than 98%, which are better than those obtained using a commercial Lindlar catalyst. The excellent synergy was likely a result of the proximal interaction between Pd and CuFe(2)O(4) nanoparticles.

in the present study, the effects of calcium doping on the performance of the co-precipitated cu-mgo catalysts prepared with different calcium loadings in the selective hydrogenation of furfuraldehyde were investigated. the results proved that the addition of this promoter had a remarkable impact on the catalytic performance. the conversion of furfuraldehyde enhanced up to 83% and the furfuryl ...

An iron porphyrin catalyst with four electron donor groups is reported. The porphyrin ligand bears a distal hydrogen bonding pocket which inverts the normal axial ligand binding selectivity exhibited by porphyrins bearing sterically crowded distal structures. This catalyst specifically reduces O(2) by four electrons under both fast and slow electron fluxes at pH 7.

Supported molybdenum carbide (yMo2C/M41) and Cu-promoted molybdenum carbide, using a mechanical mixing and co-impregnation method (xCuyMo2C/M41-M and xCuyMo2C/M41-I) on a mesoporous molecular sieve MCM-41, were prepared by temperature-programmed carburization method in a CO/H2 atmosphere at 1073 K, and their catalytic performances were tested for CO2 hydrogenation to form methanol. Both catalys...

We have succeeded in synthesizing vertically aligned doubled-walled carbon nanotube (DWNT) forests with heights of up to 2.2 mm by water-assisted chemical vapour deposition (CVD). We achieved 85% selectivity of DWNTs through a semi-empirical analysis of the relationships between the tube type and mean diameter and between the mean diameter and the film thickness of sputtered Fe, which was used ...

The selective oxidation of lactose by molecular oxygen has been studied in a batch reactor containing an aqueous slurry of 0.5 kmol m-1 reactant and 1.0 kg m-3 catalyst. The in situ Bi promotion of a commercial Pd-C catalyst resulted in 100% selectivity to sodium lactobionate up to conversions of 95% in the pH range 7-10 and at temperatures up to 333 K. Performing the reaction under such condit...

This chapter describes a comprehensive computational study on the template-assisted and Pd(OAc)2-catalyzed meta-selective C–H olefination reaction. The reaction mechanism, the active form of catalyst, the potential role of silver salt and the origin of meta-selectivity were investigated in this work. The computational results demonstrated that the conventionally proposed monomeric Pd(OAc)2 mode...
