Solution combustion using urea as a fuel was employed to synthesise Co oxide and Al(2)O(3)-, SiO(2)- and TiO(2)-supported Co oxide catalysts. The catalysts were characterised using several techniques such as N(2) adsorption/desorption, XRD, FTIR, UV-vis diffuse reflectance and SEM-EDX, and their catalytic activity was evaluated in phenol degradation in aqueous solution with sulphate radicals. S...

The catalytic combustion of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is one of the most important techniques to remove these pollutants from the air stream, but it should be carried out at the lowest possible temperature, saving energy and avoiding the simultaneous formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Under these experimental conditions, the chemisorption of water generated from VOCs combustion may inh...

The optimum length of a monolith tube is one for which near-hundred percent conversion is attained, and at the same time, the catalyst over the ntire length of the tube is utilized. In practice, the length is adjusted by stacking monolith plugs end-to-end. In this study, the repercussions of uch a practice are investigated numerically with the goal to determine if a tube of length 2L demonstrat...

Herein, we introduce a specially designed domain-confined macroporous catalyst, namely, the Co3O4 nanocrystals anchored on a TiO2 nanotube array catalyst, which was synthesized by using the mercaptoacetic acid induced surface-grafting method. This catalyst exhibits much better performance for catalytic soot combustion than the conventional TiO2 powder supported one in gravitational contact mode...

AgAl2O3 nanocomposite were synthesized by solution combustion Technique using ammonium carbonate as a new fuel under simultaneous combustion of alumina and silver particles condition. Samples prepared with different amount of silver, were characterized by XRD, BET, SEM and optical Absorption measurements. XRD analysis was used to determine the change in phase and size of the synthesized n...

A combined heat and power (CHP) system, which consists of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell an integrated processor is developed based on solving the energy balance between endothermic exothermic hydrogen production reactions. The system simplifies traditional complex processing, only three reactor units are needed—catalytic combustion, new CO removal. In novel CHP H2-rich reformate from met...

We reported the morphology-directed synthesis of Co(3)O(4) nanotubes via interfacial reaction of NaOH with pre-fabricated CoC(2)O(4)·2H(2)O nanorods based on modified Kirkendall effect. The as-obtained Co(3)O(4) nanotubes showed excellent activity and durability in catalytic combustion of CH(4).
