NiMnO3 was found to be an efficient catalyst for light-driven water oxidation using [Ru(bpy)3](2+) and S2O8(2-) as a photosensitiser and a sacrificial oxidant, respectively. NiMnO3 exhibited remarkably high catalytic activity in comparison with manganese oxides and nickel oxide. For electrochemical water oxidation, the highest catalytic current was also obtained with NiMnO3 among the manganese ...

Ultrathin Co(3)O(4) nanostructures with high catalytic oxidation of CO were synthesized by heating cobalt foils under atmospheric conditions. The Co(3)O(4) nanostructures were selectively exposing (111) planes composed of plenty of Co(3+) cations. We observed ultrahigh catalytic oxidation of CO in Co(3)O(4) nanowires with about 3 nm diameter.

As the field of water oxidation catalysis grows, so does the sophistication of the associated experimental apparatuses. However, problems persist in studying some of the most basic aspects of catalytic water oxidation including acquisition of satisfactory early-reaction-time kinetics and rapid quantification of O2 concentration. We seek to remedy these problems and through better experimental d...

Catalytic oxidation/degradation of phenol with molecular oxygen in aqueous medium by Zirconia, zirconia supported metals and metal oxides at low temperature were studied in a three necked batch reactor. The catalysts prepared were characterized by modern techniques like XRD, SEM and EDX. The activities of different catalysts for the oxidation of phenol in aqueous medium were found to be in the ...

We propose a model for the water-oxidation and recovery systems of the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) of the photosystem II (PSII) enzyme. The whole system is constructed from two catalytic cycles, conducted as a tandem reaction: (i) a water-oxidation loop uses cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate as an oxidant to activate a dimanganese complex for water-oxidation and thereby liberate a molecule of O2 an...

Electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol on Pt modified polyaniline electrodes was investigated with the aim of developing highly active composite electrodes for direct methanol fuel cells. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry were used to evaluate the catalytic activity in sulfuric acid solutions containing methanol. Pt / polyaniline modified carbon electrodes showed higher catalytic activit...

Protein ubiquitination is a highly versatile post-translational modification that regulates as diverse processes as protein degradation and kinase activation. Deubiquitinases hydrolyse ubiquitin modifications from proteins and are hence key regulators of the ubiquitin system. Ovarian tumour deubiquitinases comprise a family of fourteen human enzymes, many of which regulate cellular signalling p...

A detailed catalytic study of LFe(III)Cl (where L = 3-{2-[2-(3-hydroxy-1,3-diphenyl-allylideneamino)-ethylamino]-ethylimino}-1,3-diphenyl-propen-1-ol) for hydrocarbon oxidation was carried out, focusing on the role of solvent, atmospheric dioxygen, and oxidant on catalytic efficiency. The data showed that LFe(III)Cl catalyst was efficient in homogeneous hydrocarbon oxidations providing signific...

The formation of syngas (H2 and CO) from methane in a rhodium coated monolith is studied as an example for the simulation of reactive ow in a partial oxidation reactor. A tube wall catalytic reactor, which serves as a model for a single pore of the monolithic catalyst, is simulated. The simulation is carried out using a two-dimensional ow eld description coupled with detailed reaction mechanism...
