The study objectives were to compare the duration of immunity of commercially available, one and two dose, killed porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccines. Sixty, 3.5-week-old pigs were randomly divided into 6 treatment groups: one dose vaccines (FDAH-1, BIVI-1), two dose vaccines (Intervet-2, FDAH-2), and nonvaccinated negative and positive controls. Tissue homogenate challenge was conducted ...
The complete genome of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) strain YiY-3-2-H5 contains a cytidine insertion at position 962 in open reading frame 1. This insertion causes a reading frameshift of the rep gene, and thereafter a premature stop codon is present at the 3' terminal end of this gene.
Shandong is a porcine circovirus 2b (PCV2b) strain that was isolated and purified from tissue samples from pigs with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in the Shandong Province of China. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain Shandong, which may aid in understanding the molecular characteristics of this strain.
Porcine circovirus-2 (PCV-2) infection is currently considered an important disease of swine. The pathogenic agent was first described in Brazil in 2000. This study detected the PCV-2 DNA in four Brazilian pig tissues collected between 1978 and 1979. This observation is the oldest description of this virus in Brazil.
Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) strain 102 belongs to the PCV2b-1C subtype, and its sole structural protein (Cap) exhibits high homology with that of other PCV2b isolates reported in South Korea, China, and the United States. Strain 102 contains a new mutation (R37H) in the domain of the nuclear localization signal (NLS) of the Cap.
The genome sequence of a novel porcine circovirus 2 strain (CC12) is composed of 1,767 nucleotides, with two major open reading frames (ORFs). ORF1 encodes two replication-associated proteins (Rep and Rep') with the unique mutation N186S, and ORF2 encodes a viral capsid protein (Cap) with two rare mutations, R59K and A190T.
The origin of DNA replication of porcine circovirus (PCV) was mapped to a 111-bp fragment. On top of a hairpin, a nonanucleotide (TAGTATTAC) homologous to nonanucleotides of other viruses was identified. Mutation of this element abolishes replication. PCV may be related to a virus family characterized by single-stranded circular DNA genomes, rolling-circle replication, and homology of their rep...
Copyright ©NADIS 2017 Introduction Infection associated with Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in pig herds, producing Post Weaning Multisystemic Wasting Disease (PMWS) and Porcine Dermatitis Nephropathy Syndrome (PDNS), appeared in the United Kingdom in the late 1990s and is now ubiquitous. Very few countries in the pig keeping world would claim to be free of the disease, although Australia may...
