BACKGROUND Coexistence of multiple potential causes of cerebral infarct (MPCI) has been poorly studied. OBJECTIVE To determine the risk factors, clinical findings, and topographical patterns of patients with at least 2 potential causes of cerebral infarct. DESIGN Data analysis from a prospective acute stroke registry (the Lausanne Stroke Registry, Lausanne, Switzerland) in a community-based...

Haemangioma in the chest wall is a very rare entity, seldom described in the literature. We report the case of a 23 year old woman presenting with independent, cervical subdural and intercostal haemangiomata. She suffered several episodes of recurrent, self-limiting subdural haemorrhage before diagnosis was made by magnetic nuclear resonance, aortography and selective intercostal angiography. S...

Overlay networks have emerged as a powerful paradigm to realise a large range of distributed services. However, as the number of overlays grows and the systems that use them become more interconnected, overlays must increasingly co-exist within the same infrastructure. When this happens, overlays have to compete for limited resources, which causes negative interferences. This paper takes an opp...

Pituicytoma is a rare, low-grade glial neoplasm that arises in the neurohypophysis or infundibulum and usually presents as pituitary gland enlargement. They are often misdiagnosed as pituitary adenomas. Causes have varied for high serum adrenocorticotropic hormone level reported in a few patients with pituicytoma. We report a rare case of pituicytoma accompanied by corticotroph hyperplasia-a cha...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical outcome and parameters related to coexisting endometrial carcinoma in women with tissue-diagnosed endometrial hyperplasia. METHODS Between January 1991 and December 2009, three hundred and eighty-six patients with the presumptive diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia were retrieved. Among these, one hundred and twenty-five patients were identified as having c...

BACKGROUND There are many studies in the literature on the association between depression treatment and health expenditures. However, there is a knowledge gap in examining this relationship taking into account coexisting chronic conditions among patients with diabetes. We aim to analyze the association between depression treatment and healthcare expenditures among adults with Type 2 Diabetes Me...

Some chaotic systems have two coexisting attractors depending on initial values in same parameters. In these systems, changing parameters causes switching phenomena of coexisting attractors. In this study, we investigate switching phenomena in coupled chaotic systems as a ladder. We define a quasi synchronization and confirmed the quasi synchronization phenomena in proposed systems.

The Seranjic skarn occurs as invading of Late Jurassic intrusive body with granite composition within impure carbonate rocks. Field observation and mineralogical investigations show the exoskarn is the most widespread skarn in the Seranjic skarn and is mostly calcic skarn together with magnesium skarn as a narrow marginal zone. The mineral assemblages indicate two stages of evolutions: the prog...

This paper proposes a new control method applicable for a class of non-autonomous dynamical systems that naturally exhibit coexisting attractors. The central idea is based on knowledge of a system's basins of attraction, with control actions being applied intermittently in the time domain when the actual trajectory satisfies a proximity constraint with regards to the desired trajectory. This in...
