Through the study of a linear problem, this paper introduces some of the ingredients that are needed in order to conduct efficient nonlinear calculations on composite pipes under thermomechanical loading in the presence of defects. Based on the observation that the main degradation scenarios take place at the extremity of a pipe, a refined model is used to describe this end zone while the rest ...

Organic compounds such as benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and o-, m-, and p-xylene from contaminated soil and groundwater may permeate through thermoplastic pipes which are used for the conveyance of drinking water in water distribution systems. In this study, permeation parameters of benzene in 25 mm (1 inch) standard inside dimension ratio (SIDR) 9 high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes were ...

Dept.of Mechnical Design Eng., Chosun Univ., 375 Seosuk-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju, Korea, [email protected] In this study, shearography and infrared thermography were used for measuring the wall thinning defects of the nuclear power plants pipes. It is very important to measure the wall thinning defects inside the pipes, because the wall thinning defects cause damage or destruction of the pipes. T...

We report measurements on the synchronization properties of organ pipes. First, we investigate influence of an external acoustical signal from a loudspeaker on the sound of an organ pipe. Second, the mutual influence of two pipes with different pitch is analyzed. In analogy to the externally driven, or mutually coupled self-sustained oscillators, one observes a frequency locking, which can be e...

A method for locating underground pipes from a pulse radar image is presented. The method employs the Laplacian of Gaussian filter to extract edges and employs the Hough transform to determine the depth of the pipes. A preliminary experiment showed its ability to detect deeply buried pipes with weak signal echoes. key words: radar image, Hough transform, LoG filter, underground locating

In this paper, we describe a new MIDI controller, the Light Pipes. The Light Pipes are a series of pipes that respond to incident light. The paper will discuss the design of the instrument, and the prototype we built. A piece was composed for the instrument using algorithms designed in Pure Data.

Glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite pipes are mostly used in transmission lines of submarine oil, natural gas, and chemical fluids. The alterations mechanical characteristics applications great importance to the lifespan material. Some important properties materials density hardness value. In this study, changes values GFRP which were unexposed seawater exposed for 1, 2 3 months inv...
