Complications of Coronary artery disease remain the most common cause of morbidity and mortality after vascular surgical procedures. Goldman risk factor analysis has been suggested as peri-operative noninvasive screening method to detect significant coronary artery disease in emergent vascular procedures. Methods and Materials: In this study, the accuracy of the Goldman scale was assessed with r...
Background: Complete Heart Block (CHB) is one of the most important cardiac event emergencies. The present study was achieved to evaluate the variable types of CHB, associated with congenital heart disease, predominantly clinical manifestation, complication, treatment, outcome and mortality rate. Materials and methods: In a retrospective overview, 54 children with CHB admitted in Rajaie Heart ...
Patients with congenital heart diseases (CHDs) are at increased risk of developing complications during anaesthesia. Improvements in medical and surgical management in recent decades have resulted in significantly more children with CHD surviving to adulthood. The aim of this article is to focus on broad classification of CHD and to provide an updated review on the current perioperative anaesth...
the coverage of soft- tissue defects of the hand specially volar side needs special consideration. although certain local flaps have been described and used for resurfacing the palm, extensive injury requires distant or free flaps for coverage. abdominal pedicle flap has been traditionally used for extensive hand injuries, however there is no doubt that one of the ideal tissues for resurfacing ...
introduction: coverage of bone grafts is very important in reconstructive surgery. in edentulous alveolar ridges this coverage is particularly important for supporting dental prostheses. here we present the case of a patient with a large deficient maxillary anterior region that was reconstructed with a bilateral palatal submucosal periosteal connective tissue flap: a soft tissue reserve for upp...
In children, chylothorax occurs mainly after cardiac and thoracic surgeries. One of the recommended postsurgery treatments is ligation of the thoracic tract, when all other conservative treatments have failed. We report 4 cases of chylothorax in patients who were successfully treated with this approach, which resulted in a decrease in pleural drainage without recurrent chylothorax.
From our experience in 16 patients with persistent chylothorax from fistulas of the thoracic duct or its tributaries, we conclude that no standard treatment is uniformly successful and multimodality therapy should be considered. In selected patients, an anastomosis between ectatic lymphatics or hyperplastic lymph nodes and an adjacent vein may be attempted. Chylothorax from "leakage" of the tho...
Staged surgical repair and interventional cardiac catheterization have contributed to improved outcomes for children with congenital heart disease. As a result, there are increasing numbers of children and adolescents who must undergo multiple invasive cardiac procedures at various developmental stages. During these procedures, management of pain and anxiety using nonpharmacological methods is ...
