Background: Observing the enhancing plaques in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most valuable diagnostic modalities in confirming the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS), its recurrence and for better detection of active disease. Since active lesions discovery can improve designating diffusion in time diagnosis of MS and controlling disease activity, and there is not any definite...

Parathyroid carcinoma is very rare, with only a few documented cases. Hence, metastatic lesions are infrequently documented on scintigraphic imaging. We present a case of a 63-year-old female presenting with elevated serum levels of ionized calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) who was referred to our department for a parathyroid scan with SPECT/ CT. Parathyroid scintigraphy showed a focus of i...

A 49-year-old female with a history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, presented with worsening dyspnea on minimal exertion. During the follow-up period, transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) were consistent with the diagnosis of noncompaction of the left ventricle. Delayed-enhancement CMR demonstrated hyperenhancement of the prominent trabeculations locate...

We present the case of a 22-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the scrotum. The imaging findings and management of the patient are described and discussed in the context of prior research pertaining to traumatic bladder rupture. Non-pressurized antegrade 10-minute delayed CT may result in unnecessary radiation exposure, delayed diagnosis and is not adequate to exclude bladder rupture...

OBJECTIVE We evaluated the extent to which hepatic lesion characterization and detection is improved by using gadobenate dimeglumine for enhancement of MR images. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty-six patients were imaged before gadobenate dimeglumine administration, immediately after the 2 mL/sec bolus administration of a 0.05 mmol/kg dose (dynamic imaging), and at 60-120 min after the IV infusio...

Muslin-induced optic neuropathy is a rarely reported but important cause of delayed visual loss after repair of intracranial aneurysms. Most of the previously reported cases were published before the introduction of MR imaging. We describe the clinical features and MR appearance of two cases of delayed visual loss due to "muslinoma," and compare them with the 21 cases reported in the literature.

The diagnosis of prosthetic valve endocarditis continues to present a diagnostic challenge, due to the lower sensitivity of the modified Duke criteria and a higher percentage of negative or inconclusive echocardiography results. Diagnostic delay might result in significant morbidity/mortality. Imaging modalities like 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography/comput...

BACKGROUND Isolated small bowel perforation following blunt abdominal trauma (BAT) is an uncommon situation with high morbidity and mortality rates, and delayed small bowel perforation is even rarer. The pathophysiology of this condition is not clear in all cases. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of delayed small bowel perforation following BAT with extensive portomes...
