Unlike eutherian males, pairing of the sex chromosomes in marsupial males during the first meiotic prophase is not mediated by a synaptonemal complex. Instead, a specific structure, the dense plate, develops during pachytene between the sex chromosomes. We have investigated the development and structural nature of this asynaptic association in males of the marsupial species Thylamys elegans by ...

Internal Dvnamics of Neutron Stars The central element of many binary x-ray sources is a neutron star. Advances in the theory of dense matter, spurred by precise measurements of changes in spin rates of both rotationpowered and accretion-powered pulsars (see, for example, the section entitled “High-Mass X-Ray Binaries” in the main text) has made it possible to build detailed models describing t...

community detection is a task of fundamental importance in social network analysis. community structures enable us to discover the hidden interactions among the network entities and summarize the network information that can be applied in many applied domains such as bioinformatics, finance, e-commerce and forensic science. there exist a variety of methods for community detection based on diffe...

The present knowledge of the structure of the exponential function of a real Lie group is surveyed. The emphasis is on the image of the exponential function: Which powers of a group element are contained in it, when is it dense, when does it fill the group? Some so far unobserved errors in the literature are pointed out, results are described, and some conjectures are formulated. Mathematics Su...

Given a discrete group and a unitary representation on a Hilbert space H, we prove that the notions of operator Bracket map and Gramian coincide on a dense set of H. As a consequence, combining this result with known frame theory, we can recover in a simple way all previous Bracket characterizations of Riesz and frame sequences generated by a single element under a unitary representation.

In this work we consider the solution of the linear systems arising from electromagentism applications by preconditioned Krylov subspace methods [3]. Simulation of electromagnetic wave propagation phenomena requires the numerical solution of Maxwell’s equations which it is often done by means of integral equation methods. The discretization of the integral equations with the boundary element me...

The aim of this paper is to derive spectral and condition number estimates of the singlelayer operator for low-frequency multiple scattering problems. This work extends the analysis initiated in [6] to dense media. Estimates are obtained first in the case of circular cylinders by Fourier analysis and are next formally adapted to disks, ellipses and rectangles in the framework of boundary elemen...

We prove a Weyl Harish-Chandra integration formula for the action of a reductive dual pair on the corresponding symplectic space W. As an intermediate step, we introduce a notion of a Cartan subspace and a notion of an almost semisimple element in the symplectic space W. We prove that the almost semisimple elements are dense in W. Finally, we provide estimates for the orbital integrals associat...

Preconditioned iterative solution methods are compared with the direct Gaussian elimination method to solve dense linear systems Ax = b which originate from crack propagation problems, modeled and discretized by boundary element (BEM) techniques. Numerical experiments are presented and compared with the direct solution method available in a commercial BEM package. The experiments show that the ...
