1,4-bis(triphenylphosphonium)-2-butene dichloride was developed as a new phase transfer catalyst. This quaternized phosphonium salt catalyzed the regioselective ring opening of epoxides by thiocyanate ion to give β-hydroxy thiocyanates in high yields under mild conditions.
The title compound, [Pt(NH3)4]Cl2·4NH3, was crystallized in liquid ammonia from the salt PtCl2. The platinum cation is coordinated by four ammonia mol-ecules, forming a square-planar complex. The chloride anions are surrounded by nine ammonia mol-ecules, either bound within the platinum complex or solvent mol-ecules. The solvent ammonia mol-ecules are packed in such a way that an extended netwo...
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(10)H(28)N(4))[CoCl(4)]Cl(2), contains two half-mol-ecules of the macrocycle, which are both completed by crystallographic inversion symmetry. In the dianion, the Co(2+) cation is tetra-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms; the Co-Cl bond lengths correlate with the number of hydrogen bonds that the chloride ions accept. The crystal cohesion is suppo...
The ultrahigh field natural abundance (73)Ge solid-state wide-line NMR study of germanium dichloride complexed with 1,4-dioxane and tetraphenylgermane yields the largest (73)Ge quadrupolar coupling constant determined by NMR spectroscopy to date and the first direct observation of (73)Ge chemical shift anisotropy.
The title complex, [Sn(CH(3))(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))](n), was synthesized from cis-cyclo-hexane-1,2-dicarboxylic acid and dimethyl-tin dichloride. The complex has a bridging bis-bidentate carboxyl-ate group resulting in a zig-zag chain structure parallel to [001]. The Sn atom is six-coordinated and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry.
For each of the 148 toxicants, EPA established a "benchmark" level that the agency considers safe. Eight of the 148 industrial poisons exceed EPA's benchmark safety levels all of the time in all 60,803 census tracts. All eight are carcinogens, that is, they are known to cause cancer: bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate; benzene; carbon tetrachloride; chloroform; ethylene dibromide; ethylene dichloride;...
