Pectin, an integral component of the plant cell wall, is a recalcitrant substrate against enzymatic challenges by most animals. In characterizing the source of a leaf beetle's (Cassida rubiginosa) pectin-degrading phenotype, we demonstrate its dependency on an extracellular bacterium housed in specialized organs connected to the foregut. Despite possessing the smallest genome (0.27 Mb) of any o...

Variability in growth rate was observed among S strain isolates of Aspergillus flavus from western Arizona. Isolates were grouped into fast and slow growing biotypes and compared for radial growth, and sclerotia, spore, aflatoxin, and pectinase production. Slow and fast biotypes were distributed equally among three collection areas with 35% of 300 S strain isolates classified as the slow biotyp...

Abstractl Density functional theory (DFT) was used to investigate the effects of intra-moecular interactions and implicit water molecules on the relative stability and the NMR shielding tensors of hallucinogenic harmine in the monomeric and dimeric states. Results represented that the relative stability and the NMR shielding tensors are dependent on the resonance interactions and chemical envir...

Macerase, a pectinase-containing enzyme mixture, was used to digest cell walls isolated from cultured pear cells. Following digestion, the reaction mixture was boiled to inactivate enzymes. Addition of soluble aliquots of the mixture to suspension cultures of pear cells led to a rapid and transient production of ethylene by the cells.

In this study, microbial utilization of coffee pulp waste to produce three carbohydrases (cellulase, pectinase, and xylanase) has been investigated. An isolate Listeria sp. ISH-16 which grown in liquid medium containing 0.5% alkali extract can grow well with density reach 107 x 58.5 cell/mL. Further, the culture optimum produced pectinase after 72 hours incubation at 37oC, but for cellulase xyl...

2-(methylamino) pyridine (hmap) reacts with meli in thf and generates the lithium salt (limap). further reaction of [cu(tmeds)2][cucl2] (tmeda=tetramethylethylenediamine) with one equivalent of this ligand in thf leads to the formation of a yellow dimeric cu(i) complex, [cu(map)]2. analytical data, molecular weight, and magnetic susceptibility measurements, confirm the formula [cu(map)]2 .

In this study, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized via exposure of fungal cell filtrate from Aspergillus flavus to aqueous ions. The extracellular synthesis MNPs was monitored by UV–Vis spectrophotometry and showed an absorption peak at 310 nm. morphology found be flake-like, as confirmed Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), while the average cryst...

A simple procedure for the preparation of plant cell protoplasts is described. The leaf is first treated with pectinase under conditions that do not liberate cells; cellulase is then used to release protoplasts. The yields are comparable to those obtained by methods that entail the prior preparation of free cells. The method is of general application but is particularly useful with tissues that...

A comparative study of the spectral-luminescent and spectral-kinetic properties 3,3'-diethyl-9-methylthiacarbocyanine (MTCC) 3,3'-diethylthiacarbocyanine (TCC) their complexes with cucurbit[8]uril in aqueous solution was carried out. Dimeric TCC consist trans-isomers exhibit only delayed fluorescence while dimeric MTCC cis-isomers both phosphorescence water. The participate electron phototransf...
