The Colin de Verdière number μ(G) of a graph G is the maximum corank of a Colin de Verdière matrix for G (that is, of a Schrödinger operator on G with a single negative eigenvalue). In 2001, Lovász gave a construction that associated to every convex 3-polytope a Colin de Verdière matrix of corank 3 for its 1-skeleton. We generalize the Lovász construction to higher dimensions by interpreting it...

For any connected undirected graph G, let (G) be the graph invariant introduced by Colin de Verdi ere. In this paper we study the behaviour of (G) under clique sums of graphs. In particular, we give a forbidden minor characterization of those clique sums G of G 1 and G 2 for which (G) = maxf(G 1); (G 2)g.

The boxicity of a graph G = (V,E) is the smallest integer k for which there exist k interval graphs Gi = (V,Ei), 1 ≤ i ≤ k, such that E = E1 ∩ · · · ∩ Ek. Equivalently, the boxicity of G is the smallest integer d ≥ 1 such that G is the intersection graph of a collection of boxes in R (a box in R the cartesian product of d closed intervals of the real line). In the first part of the talk, I will...

Erwinia psidii causes bacterial disease of guava in Brazil. Phenotypic and molecular characterization through rep-PCR fingerprinting of 42 strains from different geographical regions showed that E. psidii populations in Brazil have a low level of genetic diversity and suggest that contaminated plant material is the main source for pathogen dissemination in the country.

Background and objectives: Traditional polyherbal oils are still in use in Persian Traditional Medicine (PTM). Most of these formulations are prepared via traditional procedures such as maceration of herbs in oils or evaporating aqueous herbal extracts in boiling or heating oils as the vehicle. Thus, their quality control, standardization and authentication are real challenges ...

O a clear night, anyone with a good telescope can see that the sky is strewn with thousands of satellites— some are manmade satellites, launched into orbit for communications and defense, and some are natural ones, such as our beloved Moon. However, there is another type of satellite that is much closer to home: the human genome is also littered with “satellites.” Genetic satellites are entirel...
