In order to establish a method to characterize the structural heterogeneity of the bacterial surface, research was conducted with a combination of experiments based on electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) concentration-imaging (CI) and the modeling of translational diffusion with local restrictions. The benefits and drawbacks of this approach are discussed for the Vibrio sp. exopolysaccharide ...

Two mononuclear square-planar Cr(II) complexes are reported, exhibiting field-induced slow magnetic relaxation. The axial zero-field splitting parameter was unambiguously determined by both a high-frequency/field electron paramagnetic resonance (HF-EPR) technique and magnetic measurements. This result represents the first observed single-molecule-magnet behavior in the square planar coordinatio...

Simulations were done of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra for bis(N,N-dimethyl-L-alpha-isoleucinato)copper(II) dissolved in deuterated methanol as a function of temperature. They indicated different behaviour of the complex below and above 300 degrees K. The effect was examined by the conformational analysis of the copper(II) complex with a new molecular mechanics force field.

G-quadruplex conformations within a sequence of three quadruplex units of human telomeric DNA were studied by two-frequency pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. In contrast to some individual G-quadruplexes, within the higher-order human telomeric sequence a (3+1) hybrid structure is formed.

Two cyclopropane derivatives of N@C60 were synthesised by well-controlled Bingel reactions, in which 94% of the spin centres were retained, as confirmed by a series of quantitative electron spin paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements. Further study on the influence of the DBU catalyst base revealed a spin loss mechanism through a fullerene-DBU diradical.

This work focused on qualitative and quantitative detection of oxygen free radicals in liquids after plasma treatment with an atmospheric pressure argon plasma jet by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). For the treatment, a shielded plasma jet, where the active effluent zone is surrounded by a protective gas curtain was used.

We report the first absorption-based single-chip transceiver for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy in silicon. The chip is implemented in a 0.13m SiGe BiCMOS process technology. The transmitter generates and delivers a continuous-wave microwave signal with a frequency range from 895 to 979 MHz and the receiver adopts a direct-conversion architecture. Based on the single-chip tr...

We have used adenosine diphosphate analogs containing electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spin moieties and EPR spectroscopy to show that the nucleotide-binding site of kinesin-family motors closes when the motor.diphosphate complex binds to microtubules. Structural analyses demonstrate that a domain movement in the switch 1 region at the nucleotide site, homologous to domain movements in the...

Magnetic and electronic transport properties of perovskite manganite La0.6Er0.1Sr0.3MnO3 have been thoroughly examined through the measurements of magnetization, electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR), and resistivity. It was found that the substitution of Er3+ for La3+ ions introduced the chemical disorder and additional strain in this sample. An extra resonance signal occurred in EPR spectra at...

The association of copper to Riboflavin Binding Protein (RBP) from egg white has been studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and X-ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopies. The type II site contains a mix of copper I and II in an oxygen rich environment.
