BACKGROUND, AIM, AND SCOPE Over the last two decades, there has been a remarkable shift of attention to the scientific and political fundamentals of the precautionary principle. The application of this principle has become a main strategy of coping with the different forms and problems related to non-knowledge. Thus, societies are increasingly confronted with the challenging and hitherto unreso...
A growing community investigates planning using dynamic epistemic logic. Another framework based on similar ideas is knowledgebased programs as plans. Here we show how actions correspond in the two frameworks. We finally discuss fragments of DEL planning obtained by the restriction of event models. Fragments are separated by virtue of their computational complexity.
In this paper, we provide a new axiomatization of the event-model-based Dynamic Epistemic Logic, based on the completeness proof method proposed in [Wang and Cao, 2013]. This axiomatization does not use any of the standard reduction axioms, but naturally captures the essence of the update product. We demonstrate the use of our new axiomatization and the corresponding proof techniques by three s...
Wikipedia (the “free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit”) is having a huge impact on how a great many people gather information about the world. So, it is important for epistemologists and information scientists to ask whether or not people are likely to acquire knowledge as a result of having access to this information source. In other words, is Wikipedia having good epistemic consequenc...
Abstract I offer a detailed discussion of the connections Lani Watson posits in her book The Right to Know between violations person’s epistemic rights on one hand and distinctively forms injustice influentially discussed work Miranda Fricker other. argue that if we specify content relevant (and corresponding duties others) carefully enough, it becomes plausible there is an even tighter relatio...
The interest of epistemic comparative conditionals comes from the fact that they represent genuine ‘comparative epistemic relations’ between propositions, situations, evidences, abilities, interests, etc. This paper argues that various types of epistemic comparative conditionals uniformly represent comparative epistemic relations via the comparison of epistemic positions rather than the compari...
