In order to enable interoperability between ontology-based systems, ontology matching techniques have been proposed. However, when the generated mappings suffer from logical flaws, their usefulness may be diminished. In this paper we present a multi-strategy approach to detect and correct violations of the so-called conservativity principle where novel subsumption entailments between named conc...
An intuitive four-valued semantics can be used to develop expressively powerful terminological logits which have tractable subsumption. If a fourvalued identity is also used, number restrictions can be added to the logic while retaining tracts bility. The subsumptions supported by the logic are a type of “structural” subsumption, where each structural component of one concept must have an analo...
Traditional search engines are typically keywordbased, which cannot understand the semantics of a query or relationships among queried concepts, causing much of the related information to be absent from the search results. As opposed to traditional keyword-based search engines, in this paper, we introduce an approach to developing a smart search engine using ontology-based semantic reasoning. T...
Semantic Web ontologies are based on crisp logic and do not provide well-defined means for expressing uncertainty. We present a new probabilistic method to approach the problem. In our method, degrees of subsumption, i.e., overlap between concepts can be modeled and computed efficiently using Bayesian networks based on RDF(S) ontologies.
An ontology consists of a set of concepts, a set of constraints imposing on instances of concepts, and the subsumption relation. It is assumed that an ontology is a tree under the subsumption relation between concepts. To preserve structural properties of ontologies, the ontology revision is not only contracting ontologies by discarding statements inconsistent with a revising statement, but als...
247 Volume 15, Number 2 a central role in science but also that science influences ethics. The book can be used as a guide for scientists to make good judgments about what is acceptable and not acceptable in science. It can also help scientists determine how they want to see their discipline develop in the future in light of scientific discoveries and technological advancements in an increasing...
this thesis basically deals with the well-known notion of the bear-invariant of groups, which is the generalization of the schur multiplier of groups. in chapter two, section 2.1, we present an explicit formula for the bear-invariant of a direct product of cyclic groups with respect to nc, c>1. also in section 2.2, we caculate the baer-invatiant of a nilpotent product of cyclic groups wuth resp...

ethical misconduct is not a new issue in the history of science and literature. however, ethical misconducts in science have grown considerably in the modern era which is due to emphasis on the scientific proliferation in research institutes and gauging scientists according to their publications. in the current case series, several misconducts occurring over the previous years in mashhad univer...
