In this paper we are presenting a method using fuzzy logic for dynamic parameter adaptation in the imperialist competitive algorithm, which is usually known by its acronym ICA. The ICA algorithm was initially studied in its original form to find out how it works and what parameters have more effect upon its results. Based on this study, several designs of fuzzy systems for dynamic adjustment of...

Annotation: In this papre We propose a neural network optimization algorithm for independent component analysis(ICA) which can separate mixtures of suband superGaussian source signals with self-adaptive nonlinearities. The ICA algorithem in the framework of natural Riemannian gradient, is derived using the parameterized Weibull density model. The nonlinear function in ICA algorithem is self-ada...

Spatial Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is an increasingly used data-driven method to analyze functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) data. To date, it has been used to extract meaningful patterns without prior information. However, ICA is not robust to mild data variation and remains a parameter-sensitive algorithm. The validity of the extracted patterns is hard to establish, as well...

In this paper, independent component analysis (ICA) is used for blind source separation of biomedical signals. Visual and quantitative tests of the ability of ICA to separate signals were performed using a fast ICA algorithm. Results obtained from simulated and FECG signals show that the ICA performance using the whitening matrix of the mixed signals was superior to that of random initial weights.

Routing is an important challenge in WSN due to the presence of hundreds or thousands of sensor nodes. Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) is a hierarchical routing and data dissemination protocol. LEACH divides a network domain into several sub-domains that are called clusters. Non-uniformity of cluster distribution and CHs selection without considering the positions of other sens...

This paper presents an accurate Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) using multi-layered Neural Networks (NNs) based on the Back Propagation (BP) and Imperialistic Competition Algorithm (ICA) in order to predict the DGPS corrections for accurate positioning. Simulation results allowed us to optimize the NN performance in term of residual mean square error. We compare results obtained b...

As an important part of artificial intelligence and pattern recognition, facial expression recognition has drawn much attention recently and numerous methods have been proposed. Feature extraction is the most important part which directly affects the final recognition results. Independent component analysis (ICA) is a subspace analysis method, which is also a novel statistical technique in sign...

Abtract. In this paper, we introduce a new feature representation method for face recognition. The proposed method, referred as Kernel ICA, combines the strengths of the Kernel and Independent Component Analysis approaches. For performing Kernel ICA, we employ an algorithm developed by F. R. Bach and M. I. Jordan. This algorithm has proven successful for separating randomly mixed auditory signa...

In this paper, optimization of the backstepping controller parameters in a grid-connected single-phase inverter is studied using Imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA), Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The controller is developed for the system based on state-space averaged model. By selection of a suitable Lyapunov function, stability of the proposed con...

In engineering, flood routing is an important technique necessary for the solution of a floodcontrol problem and for the satisfactory operation of a flood-prediction service. A simple conceptual model like the Muskingum model is very effective for the flood routing process. One challenge in application of the Muskingum model is that its parameters cannot be measured physically. In this article ...
