We present an extension to common realtime toon/cel-shading rendering techniques for treating reflective and transparent surfaces in a 3D toon-shading environment. Our approach takes advantage of multi texturing hardware and simple fragment and vertex shader programs. This allows a broad usage on todays gaming platforms.

The implementation of the Profile Interchange Format (PIF) for Technology CAD (TCAD) purposes is demonstrated. An application program interface for use with process and device simulation tools coded in FORTRAN, C and LISP is presented, capable of performing convenient, fast and flexible access to an extendable binary data format which fulfills todays and future needs for physical and logical TC...

The goal of my presentation is to explain what Descriptive Geometry is good for and in which way the Descriptive Geometry education is carried out in European countries. By definition, Descriptive Geometry is a method to study 3D geometry through 2D images. It provides insight into structure and metrical properties of spatial objects, processes and principles. According to this, Descriptive Geo...

Todays abundance of storage coupled with digital technologies in virtually any scientific or commercial application such as medical and biological imaging or music archives deal with tremendous quantities of images, videos or audio files stored in large multimedia databases. For content-based data mining and retrieval purposes suitable similarity models are crucial. The Earth Mover’s Distance w...

Autonomic computing aims to deal with the complexity of todays systems by letting the system handle the complexity autonomously. This is a very hard and challenging domain because current systems are complex, distributed, interconnected and rapidly changing systems. We firmly belief that a main challenge in conquering autonomic systems is the integration of three existing research communities: ...

As a representative of a complex technological system, so-called wireless multihop ad hoc communication networks are discussed. They represent an infrastructure-less generalization of todays wireless cellular phone networks. Lacking a central control authority, the ad hoc nodes have to coordinate themselves such that the overall network performs in an optimal way. A performance indicator is the...

Very recently, it was shown that the well known scoreboard as introduced in the CDC 6600 and described in current textbooks runs into deadlocks. However, it is one of the two major scheduling mechanisms used in todays microprocessors. This paper presents a corrected version of the scoreboard and formally proves that mechanism to be correct and deadlock free.

Applying technical devices of varying degree of complexity and sophistication with the purpose of diagnostics and treatment has been a hallmark of modern western medicine. Todays’ medical praxis, for instance, relays heavily on CT, MRI, ultrasound, and other complex devices. One example, ever more present during the last decade, is the instrumentation for biomechanical (kinematic, kinetic and E...

Introduction: Todays, exposure to heavy metals is happened by being produced in various environmental, industrial processes. The production of metals finally results in air pollution as well as contamination in the food chain. There are harmful effects of heavy metals such as cadmium on different organs. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and quantify cadmium in biological samples using DL...

Dependability in todays software systems is hard to achieve. Missing physical boundaries like the laws of nature in other engineering disciplines and a lack of understanding how to control the software runtime behavior to enforce consistency are two major reasons. This paper introduces a novel approach to improving software systems’ dependability by the concept of execution guarantees.
