In this project a number of circuits [1-4] with the characteristics of a passive inductor are to be assessed for their suitability for implementation in MMIC applications as a means of introducing a tuning function and as a replacement for the conventional passive inductor.

In 1982 Broniatowki [J. Appl. Phys. 56 (1982) 2907] estimated theoretically what is the change of capacitance as seen by a capacitance meter if an inductor is set in series with a DLTS sample. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no experimental studies on the inductor coupled in series with the sample to clarify in which way the inductor would actually change the DLTS spectra. In this...

the cúk converter, which has voltage buck and boost ability, offers high flexibility as an interface device for solar panels. in addition, current ripple can be more reduced because of two input and output inductors at both sides. this paper presents a new application of current-variable inductors in a cúk converter that reduces the size and capacity of storage elements. because of two inductor...

The Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) is very much important in achieving good reception sensitivity in the wideband transceiver of Ultra Wide Band (UWB) architecture. In this paper, the LNA is designed for Multi Band-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MB-OFDM) receiver, which is used to transmit the information on 14 different sub bands of UWB with minimum of 528 MHz frequency in each band. T...

In this paper, a high-conversion-ratio bidirectional dc–dc converter with coupled inductor is proposed. In the boost mode, two capacitors are parallel charged and series discharged by the coupled inductor. Thus, high step-up voltage gain can be achieved with an appropriate duty ratio. The voltage stress on the main switch is reduced by a passive clamp circuit. Therefore, the low resistance RDS(...

This paper presents a design and performance analysis of tunable RF front end circuits such as RF band pass filter and VCO for multiband applications. The tunable element is an active inductor, built by MOS transistors. It is attractive due to its tunable and larger inductance values. The RF band pass filter is realized using active inductor with suitable input and output buffer stages. The tun...

In this paper, a novel high step-up DC-DC converter for distributed generation (DG) system is proposed. The concept is to utilize two capacitors and one coupled-inductor. The two capacitors are charged in parallel during the switch-off period and are discharged in series during the switch-on period by the energy stored in the coupled inductor to achieve high stepup voltage gain. In addition, th...

Design and Implementation of highly efficient Reflective type phase shifters (RTPS) at 60GHz has been proposed in this work. Low loss cost effective design which utilizes less chip area is proposed. At high frequencies, to improve the efficiency of the communication system highly directional high gain antennas have to be used. Phase shifters are one of the most important elements in phased arra...

Efficient wireless energy transfer between two inductor-capacitor circuits has been demonstrated by applying the principles of Coupled Mode Theory to create a system of strongly-coupled, resonating magnetic fields. This paper makes a detailed analyzes how Coupled Mode Theory is used to increase energy transfer between two simple inductor-capacitor circuits.

A new 3-D solenoid-inductor structure that is compatible with standard CMOS technology is proposed. Simulation shows excellent area efficiency of more than 80% saving over conventional planar spiral inductor. If combined with post-micromaching, a peak quality factor greater than 10 at 30GHz can be realized.
