Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of a great variety of molecular metal complexes with interesting magnetic or optical properties have been prepared in the last few years. Some of the results obtained by our group and others are summarized in this article.

We derive the dynamical Stark width and shift of hydrogenic spectral lines caused by Langmuir turbulence in magnetic fusion plasmas. We show that this additional broadening mechanism can dominate over the Stark broadening by the plasma microfield, theories of the latter broadening being also discussed.
