BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Persistent urachus rarely presents in the aging male or during pregnancy. The authors report their experience with the laparoscopic excision of urachal cysts in two elderly men with significant co-morbidities and following pregnancy in a 32-year-old female. MATERIAL AND METHOD The two male patients (65 and 70 years old, respectively) presented with a lower abdominal m...
Retroperitoneal cystic lymphangioma is a rare benign tumor. Most patients eventually experience some symptoms that necessitate therapeutic intervention. Excision is the treatment of choice, and some cases of laparoscopic resection have been reported. We report another case of a huge retroperitoneal cystic lymphangioma that was successfully excised laparoscopically with the SAND balloon catheter...
Adult intussusception, which is a rare condition, generally requires surgical treatment. A 25-year-old-male with abdominal pain was diagnosed as ileal intussusception with computerized tomography. The patient underwent diagnostic laparoscopy, laparoscopic small bowel resection and anastomosis. The pathologic evaluation revealed heterotopic gastric mucosa. Heterotopic gastric mucosa is rarely se...
BACKGROUND Cystadenoma is an extremely rare benign tumor of the seminal vesicle. Diagnosis of these tumors and differential diagnosis from malignant ones may be challenging since most of the time symptoms do not occur. Management of these tumors remains debatable due to the limited data in the literature. We present the first robot-assisted laparoscopic excision of a cystadenoma of the seminal ...
Ureteral polyps are benign tumors of the ureter, which are relatively rare. The etiology has proposed various hypotheses, involving chronic inflammation and congenital disease. Most of them are commonly diagnosed in the upper ureter including the ureteropelvic junction. Some studies have reported polypectomy using a holmium laser, but several studies presented laparoscopic ureteroureterostomy f...
Remnant urachal cyst is a rare anomaly with an incidence of 1:5,000 and the majority are benign. The treatment of urachal cyst is complete surgical resection, and the cases of laparoscopic surgery for the resection have been reported since 1993. Most of the reports were about transabdominal laparoscopic approach, and it has been revealed that multiple skin incisions and trocar placements on upp...
Migration of hernia mesh into the bladder is a rare complication of inguinal hernioplasty. We present the case of an 85-year-old man who complained of hematuria and fever some 20 years after right hernioplasty. Cystoscopy and computed tomography revealed mesh migration into the right anterior wall of the bladder. Laparoscopic partial cystectomy with excision of the migrated mesh was performed s...
Advantages of laparoscopic approach in Hirschsprung disease have been already published decreasing the hospital stay and postoperative adhesions. To our knowledge, we report the first case of postoperative abdominal cellulitis after laparoscopic procedure. A laparoscopic Duhamel pull through was done on a 3-month-old child. Full-thickness biopsy under laparoscopy was performed with intraperiton...
BACKGROUND Laparoscopic management of mesenteric cysts during pregnancy has not been reported before. CASE REPORT A young woman with a mesenteric cyst associated with a crossed ectopic kidney, underwent laparoscopic excision of the cyst in the second trimester of pregnancy. The procedure was completed without complications, and the patient was discharged on the third postoperative day. Therea...
We diagnosed a 2-cm, large cystic adenomyoma after complete abortion without transcervical curettage, based on symptoms of dysmenorrhea, time of onset, and sonographic findings. The cystic adenomyoma was treated successfully with laparoscopic mass excision.
