BACKGROUND Laryngo-pharyngeal mechano-sensitivity (LPMS) is involved in dysphagia, sleep apnea, stroke, irritable larynx syndrome and cough hypersensitivity syndrome among other disorders. These conditions are associated with a wide range of airway reflex abnormalities. However, the current device for exploring LPMS is limited because it assesses only the laryngeal adductor reflex during fiber-...

Abstract. In this article, a method for the extrinsic calibration of 2D laser range finder and camera is presented. This technique produces 3D point cloud from test field by connecting to servomotor. study, ping balls standard photogrammetric targets were employed as field. Ping pong are used because they can be easily recognized in data camera. To calculate parameters between finder, these con...

A new compact self-aligned noncontact range finder is described. It uses the selfmixing effect inside a laser diode. Double modulation technique is proposed to improve the measurement accuracy. Wavelength modulation (WM) of the laser beam is obtained by modulating the injection current of the laser diode. Phase modulation (PM) of the laser beam is obtained by an electro-optic crystal (EOC) in t...

Firstly, we demonstrated a wirelessly controlled MEMS scan module with imaging and laser tracking capability which can be mounted and flown on a small UAV quadcopter. The MEMS scan module was reduced down to a small volume of <90mm x 60mm x 40mm, weighing less than 40g and consuming less than 750mW of power using a ~5mW laser. This MEMS scan module was controlled by a smartphone via Bluetooth w...

The Urban Search and Rescue Simulation used for RoboCup lacks realistic response of laser range finders on smoke. In this paper, the behavior of a Hokuyo and Sick laser range finder in a smoky environment is studied. The behavior of the lasers is among others a function of the visibility level, and in this article this function is quantified into an explicit model. This model is implemented in ...

This paper details the design, creation, and deployment of two low-cost range sensing devices for mobile robot platforms. The first is a set of sonars individually mounted on servo motors. These sensors’ angular coverage allows for effective obstacle avoidance, but does not provide precise surface placement due to sonar’s well-understood conical response window. An inexpensive laser range finde...

In this report some algorithms for 2D segmentation, feature detection and fitting are presented. The features discussed here consist of three geometric primitives: lines, circles and ellipses. The segmentation process, whose objective is grouping segments that belong to the same object, is analysed using several kinds of algorithms. Results are presented using real data scanned by a laser range...

In this paper we focus on the task of tracking multiple moving objects in rapidly changing, dynamic environments. Objects are extracted from laser range finder images and correspondences between successive images are established by network optimization techniques. The approach is implemented on a robotic wheelchair, used in two applications and evaluated experimentally.
