[1] We report complex seismic anisotropy in the top 80 km of the Earth’s inner core beneath Africa. The anisotropy in the top 80 km of the inner core is constrained using differential travel times, amplitude ratios, and waveforms of the PKiKP-PKIKP phases sampling Africa along various directions. The differential PKiKP-PKIKP time residuals (relative to the Preliminary Reference Earth Model [PRE...

PURPOSE To develop a phantom for validating MRI pulse sequences and data processing methods to quantify microscopic diffusion anisotropy in the human brain. METHODS Using a liquid crystal consisting of water, detergent, and hydrocarbon, we designed a 0.5-L spherical phantom showing the theoretically highest possible degree of microscopic anisotropy. Data were acquired on the Connectome scanne...

The Gaussian arbitrarily varying channel with input constraint r and state constraint 2 admits input sequences x = ( x l , , x , ~ ) of real numbers with Cxf 5 nT and state sequences s = ( 5 ,. , T , ~ ) of real numbers with L Y ~ 5 H A ; the output sequence x + s + V , where V = ( VI, , y , ) is a sequence of independent and identically distributed Gaussian random variables with mean 0 and var...

We consider the problem of state estimation for a parameter-varying system that is unobservable some values time-varying parameters. The set parameter divided into finite number subsets which observable, and switched observer proposed. A dwell-time condition defined ensures exponential convergence. conditions stability are formulated in form matrix inequalities, can be used gains tuning. obtain...

In models with a cosmological constant, a significant component of the large scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy is produced at rather low redshifts, z <∼ 1. In these models, the gravitational potential perturbations begin to evolve at late times. Photons passing through these time varying potentials aquire frequency shifts, an effect first noted by Rees and Sciama. Since the gra...

The investigation of a pentagonal bipyramidal Co(ii) complex with large positive anisotropy (D ≈ +30 cm(-1)) revealed field induced Single-Molecule Magnet behaviour with Ueff ≈ 50 K at 1.0 kOe. This compound belongs to a group of only a handful of complexes which exhibit this unique magnetic property while possessing easy-plane anisotropy. At high applied fields, a second relaxation process wit...

We have performed high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy on Fe-based superconductor LiFeAs (T(c)=18 K). We reveal multiple nodeless superconducting (SC) gaps with 2Δ/k(B)T(c) ratios varying from 2.8 to 6.4, depending on the Fermi surface (FS). We also succeeded in directly observing a gap anisotropy along the FS with magnitude up to ~30%. The anisotropy is fourfold symmetric ...
