We show that in the one-dimensional (1D) Anderson model long-range correlations within the sequence of on-site potentials may lead to a region of extended states in the vicinity of the band centre, i.e., to a correlation-induced insulator-metal transition. Thus, although still disordered, the 1D system can behave as a conductor.

The long-standing problem of the effect of correlations on the ferromagnetism of transition metals is apparently nearing solution. The ferromagnetism of transition metal compounds, for instance doped manganites, poses a new question: is there some kind of orbital order coexisting with itinerant ferromagnetism? The ideas and techniques introduced by Gutzwiller should be of use again.
BF(2) capped dipyrrin dimers were synthesized and have been used to terminate oligomerization to form a series of controlled length oligomers; the crystal structures of the metal complexes were investigated and correlations between the structures and optical properties were established.
Metal-insulator transitions driven by disorder (∆) and/or by electron correlations (U) are investigated within the Anderson-Hubbard model with local binary-alloy disorder using a simple but consistent mean-field approach. We studied the concentrations of Cd, Ni, Pb, Fe, Mg, and Zn in multi-floral honey, propolis, bee pollen, and wax coming from apiaries situated in different locations in Małopolska Voivodeship in southern Poland.
