Mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) composed of a glassy polymer (polysulfone) and the flexible metal organic framework NH(2)-MIL-53(Al) exhibit excellent separation properties. In contrast to most reported membranes, CO(2)/CH(4) separation selectivity increases with pressure, related to the flexibility of the filler.

A chromium-based low-cost metal–organic framework (MOF) cathode, MIL (Matériaux de l′Institut Lavoisier)-53(Cr), is coupled with a bioderived porous carbon (BPC) anode, produced from abundantly available agricultural waste betel nut shells in an asymmetric supercapacitor, for the first time. The impact of electrolyte on electrochemical behavior BPC//MIL-53(Cr) supercapacitor was assessed by con...

Electrophoretic deposition (EPD) is used to assemble metal-organic framework (MOF) materials in nano- and micro-particulate, thin-film form. The flexibility of the method is demonstrated by the successful deposition of 4 types of MOFs: NU-1000, UiO-66, HKUST-1, and Al-MIL-53. Additionally, EPD is used to pattern the growth of NU-1000 thin films that exhibit full electrochemical activity.

We rationalize the thermodynamics behind the guest-induced structural transitions of hybrid material MIL-53, showing that the existence of a double transition depends on the relative guest affinities for the two phases, rather than absolute adsorption enthalpies. Based on a simple model, we interpret recent experimental data on alkane adsorption and predict transition pressures.

The flexible metal-organic framework MIL-53(Cr) undergoes a dramatic volume expansion upon immersion in water at room temperature to form a crystalline hydrate in which water is held as a hydrogen-bonded tube: the hydration is readily reversible under ambient conditions as shown by time-resolved powder X-ray diffraction.
