We report the synthesis and catalytic studies of novel palladium nanostructures assembled from small nanoparticles by a surfactant-templated method. These one-dimensional nanomaterials comprise high-density nanocontacts of approximately 1 nm in contact length at the particle-particle interface. In contrast to dispersed Pd nanoparticles ( approximately 5 nm), the polycrystalline palladium nanowi...

A simple and straightforward fluorescence method for the detection of palladium ions at low concentrations has been developed. The mode of operation of the sensor involves in situ generation of palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs), which promote a selective deiodination reaction of iodo-BODIPY that forms highly fluorescent H-BODIPY.

We report the application of palladium nanoparticles and thin films for hydrogen sensor. Electrochemically grown palladium particles with spherical shapes deposited on Si substrate and sputter deposited Pd thin films were used to detect hydrogen at room temperature. Grain size dependence of H(2) sensing behavior has been discussed for both types of Pd films. The electrochemically grown Pd nanop...

Palladium nanoparticles supported on cellulose were prepared without using any reducing agent and used as a highly efficient catalyst for the Ullmann reductive coupling of aryl halides in the presence of zinc, in a water-alcohol mixture as solvent in air. The obtained palladium nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and ICP...

A versatile method for the formation of monodisperse, bridged silsesquioxane nanoparticles with hollow interiors and porous shells has been developed using silica nanospheres as templates. Tunable size and shell thickness, as well as high surface areas and large pore volumes of the hollow particles, allow for practical application of these nanoparticles in many fields.

A microfluidic platform is developed for the synthesis of monodisperse, 100 nm, chitosan based nanoparticles using nanogelation with ATP. The resulting nanoparticles tuned and enhanced transport and electrochemical properties of Nafion based nanocomposite membranes, which is highly favorable for fuel cell applications.

Monodisperse, size-controlled Ni-P nanoparticles were synthesised in a single step process using triphenyl-phosphane (TPP), oleylamine (OA), and Ni(II)acetyl-acetonate. The nanoparticles were amorphous, contained ~30 at% P and their size was controlled between 7-21 nm simply by varying the amount of TPP. They are catalytically active for tailored carbon nanotube growth.

New catalytic systems based on in situ and preformed palladium nanoparticles in ionic liquids (characterised by TEM) starting from palladium acetate or dipalladiumtris(dibenzylideneacetone) have been applied in the synthesis of 4-phenylbutan-2-one (II), a model compound for the preparation of fragrances. Imidazolium-based ionic liquid containing a methyl hydrogenophosphonate anion leads to an e...

Stable palladium nanoparticles were prepared by the passivation of palladium–carbon covalent linkages by the reduction of diazonium derivatives. The resulting particles were characterized by TEM, UV-vis, FTIR, and NMR measurements. Interestingly, in electrochemical studies of the electronic conductivity of the particle solid ensembles, Pd–biphenyl particles exhibited metallic temperature depend...

Fluorescent silica nanoparticles deposited with highly monodisperse gold nanoparticles (1-2 nm) were synthesized via the W/O method and intensive ultrasound irradiation. A large surface area of gold-doped fluorescent silica nanoparticle serves as a platform to immobilize a specific binding protein for biomolecules interaction in bioimaging applications.
