We propose a new network and system architecture for multicast in the Internet. Our main objectives are to find a cost-effective way to scale to a large number of multicast groups whose members are geographically dispersed; and to enable small and less capable devices to participate in group communications. In order to preserve the efficiency of data distribution gained by multicast, while avoi...

Multicast Security is one of the important problems to solve for the successful deployment of group communication applications, and source authentication of multicast data is a key and difficult problem. To solve it, a new approach is afforded based on the basic tree hashing protocol. The performance evaluation shows there are less computation and communication overheads in it, so which is reas...

We investigate reliable multicast communication over satellite networks. We compare a scenario where receivers can use a feedback channel to signal loss to a scenario where no feedback channel is available. We show that the introduction of a feedback channel is the key to allow for bandwidth-e cient, robust, and fully reliable multicast communication via satellite.

Multicast routing is an effective way to establish the group communication when the same message or the same stream of data needs to be sent to multiple receivers. Multicast routing has attracted a lot of attention in group oriented computing due to supporting data transmission from a single source node to multiple destinations concurrently. The advantage of multicast routing lies in its capabi...

In this paper we present the design and implementation of our multicast enabled dual-radio wireless mesh network for emergency communications. We have developed a novel implementation of a Multicast extension to the AODV (MAODV) protocol in Linux Kernel 2.6 user space to support multicast operation of our SwanMesh testbed. This paper presents the architecture of our SwanMesh testbed. Furthermor...

Efficient interconnection networks are critical to the performance of large communication systems and parallel and distributed computing systems with hundreds or thousands of communication components. The well-known Clos network or v(m;n; r) network can be extended to provide full one-to-many or multicast capability. In this paper, we consider several typical routing control strategies for Clos...

Reliable secure multicast communication in mobile adhoc networks is challenging due to its inherent characteristics of infrastructure-less architecture with lack of central authority, high packet loss rates and limited resources such as bandwidth, time and power. Many emerging commercial and military applications require secure multicast communication in adhoc environments. Hence key management...

Secure multicast communication in mobile adhoc networks is challenging due to its inherent characteristics of infrastructure-less architecture with lack of central authority, limited resources such as bandwidth, time and power. Hence key management is the fundamental challenge in achieving secure communication using multicast key distribution in mobile adhoc networks. In many multicast interact...

Multicast communication, in which the same message is delivered from a source node to an arbitrary number of destination nodes, is being increasingly demanded in parallel computing. System supported multicast services can potentially ooer improved performance, increased functionality, and simpliied programming, and may in turn be used to support various higher-level operations for data movement...

This paper describes a framework of QoS management for one-to-many multicast communications in the context of a new multicast transport protocol called the Enhanced Communication Transport Protocol (ECTP). ECTP is a transport protocol designed to support Internet multicast applications, such as audio and video, which is currently being standardised in ITU.T SG7. ECTP operates over IP networks t...
