In this brief paper, we extend the notion of multicomponent signal into multiple dimensions. A definition for multidimensional instantaneous bandwidth is presented and used to develop criteria for determining the multicomponent nature of a signal. We demonstrate application of the criteria by testing the validity of a multicomponent interpretation for a complicated nonstationary texture image.

Abstract. We generalize the symmetric fourth q-Painlevé equation (q-PIV) to the noncommutative setting. Considering the symmetric q-PIV to be matrix valued, well-defined multicomponent systems are obtained. The ultradiscrete limit of these systems yields coupled multicomponent ultradiscrete systems that generalize ultradiscrete PIV. The dynamics, and specifically the integrability, of the newly...

C filtering algorithms learn from the ratings of a group of users on a set of items to find personalized recommendations for each user. Traditionally they have been designed to work with one-dimensional ratings. With interest growing in recommendations based on multiple aspects of items, we present an algorithm for using multicomponent rating data. The presented mixture model-based algorithm us...

The target echo of downward-looking radar can be simulated by a multicomponent Chirp signal with noise, which makes signal detection and parameter estimation a very important processing. Aiming at the problems of error detection caused by the cross-terms in WVDHough methods and other modified WVD distribution methods, and low precision due to poor time-frequency concentration in S-Hough transfo...

INTRODUCTION Nonpharmacological therapies (NPTs) can improve the quality of life (QoL) of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and their carers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the best evidence on the effects of NPTs in AD and related disorders (ADRD) by performing a systematic review and meta-analysis of the entire field. METHODS Existing reviews and major electronic databases w...

INTRODUCTION The United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) implemented a new Kidney Allocation System (KAS) in December 2014 that is expected to substantially reduce racial disparities in kidney transplantation among waitlisted patients. However, not all dialysis facility clinical providers and end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients are aware of how the policy change could improve access to tran...

In this work, the structural origin of the enhanced glass-forming ability induced by microalloying Y in a ZrCuAl multicomponent system is studied by performing synchrotron radiation experiments combined with simulations. It is revealed that the addition of Y leads to the optimization of local structures, including: (1) more Zr-centered and Y-centered icosahedral-like clusters occur in the micro...

Multicomponent reactions are a valuable tool for the synthesis of functional π-electron systems. Two different approaches can be taken into account for accessing the target structures. In the more conventional scaffold approach an already existing chromophore is coupled with other components to give a complex functional π-system. Here, electronically monotonous components can also be introduced...

A model for phase separation in multicomponent systems is studied. In particular the possibility of a concentration dependence of the mobility matrix is taken into account. This leads to a system of fourth order degenerate parabolic partial diierential equations. We derive these equations from balance laws, show some properties of the model and prove a global existence result for the degenerate...
