We report here the draft genome sequence of a Dyella-like bacterium (DLB) isolated from Hyalesthes obsoletus, the insect vector of the uncultivable mollicute bacterium "Candidatus Phytoplasma." This isolate inhibits Spiroplasma melliferum, a cultivable mollicute. The draft genome of DLB consists of 4,196,214 bp, with a 68.6% G+C content, and 3,757 genes were predicted.

Kocuria rhizophila RF, a soil isolate from Iran, is a radiation-resistant bacterium. Only a limited amount of genomic information for radiation-resistant bacteria is currently available. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of this bacterium, providing knowledge to aid in the discovery of the genomic basis of its resistance to radiation.

Mycobacterium fortuitum was isolated from 3 species of freshwater fish in South Africa for the first time. The bacterium was isolated from oscars, guppies and discus fish from different sources. Heavy mortalities as a result of infection with this bacterium were reported from a guppy farm and the multi-resistance of this isolate to antimicrobials rules out the treatment of infected fish.

Abstract Purpose This study aims to screen bacterial isolates from the Addis Ababa municipal solid waste dumping site (Koshe) for biodegradation of low-density polyethylene bags and analyzes their efficiency in degrading plastic bags. Methods In this study, bag-degrading bacteria were isolated Koshe disposal area Ababa, Ethiopia. Screening bag was carried out using a clear zone method. Addition...

Abstract Antibiotic resistance is becoming more prevalent thus posing a severe threat to global health. Bacteria were obtained from raw milk produced on the Bowen University campus using conventional methods. Morphological and biochemical testing used carry out phenotypic identification process. Six widely broad-spectrum antibiotics in tests determine their sensitivity. resistant four or fewer ...

187 commercial checken flocks affected with respiratory diseases were examined for Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale isolation. The bacterium was isolated from 105 (56.2%) poultry flocks. Drug sensitivity test using standard disk diffusion technique was performed with 19 antibiotics. All the isolates were susceptible to tiamulin and most of them were susceptible to chloramphenicol and linco-spect...

Quorum sensing is a well-studied cell-to-cell communication method that involves a cell-density dependent regulation of genes expression mediated by signalling molecules. In this study, a bacterium isolated from a plant material compost pile was found to possess quorum sensing activity based on bioassay screening. Isolate YL12 was identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization tim...
