Biodegradable polymer nanoparticles are promising carriers for targeted drug delivery in nanomedicine applications. Molecu- lar imprinting is a potential strategy to target polymer nanoparticles through binding of endogenous ligands that may promote recognition and active transport into specific cells and tissues. However, the lock-and-key mechanism of molecular imprinting requires relatively r...
The aim of this work was to investigate the possibility of employing semi-covalent molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as a controlled release device for ibuprofen and naproxen in biological fluids, especially gastrointestinal ones, compared to non imprinted polymers (NIPs). The carboxyl groups of ibuprofen and naproxen were converted to vinyl ester group by reacting ibuprofen and vinyl aceta...
This article presents a work aiming at thermodynamically and kinetically interpreting the specific sorption and recognition by a molecularly imprinted polymer. Using Boc-L-Phe-OH as a template, the imprinted material was prepared. The result indicates that the prepared polymer can well discriminate the imprint species from its analogue (Boc-D-Phe-OH), so as to adsorb more for the former but les...
We conceived a novel hybrid carrier of thermal-responsive molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) and magnetic thermal seed (MTS) that showed heat-generating ability under an alternate current (AC) field. Compared to our previous publications, we modify both the MIP MTS improve feasibility for carrier, briefly have achieve accurate size control narrower distribution MTS, higher molecular recognitio...
Molecularly imprinted polymeric films (MIPFs) highly selective to 1R,2S(-)ephedrine (L-ephedrine, EPD) were produced by phase inversion post-polymerization imprinting on poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl methacrylate-co-acrylic acid) (PAMA) terpolymers. The inclusion of methyl methacrylate (MMA) to the polymer formulation resulted in enhanced EPD selectivity which appears to be dictated by polymer c...
A solid-phase synthesis approach to prepare molecularly imprinted polymer nanoparticles (MIP-NPs) specific for trypsin is described. The protein is immobilized on a solid support upon which thermoresponsive MIP-NPs are synthesized. The MIP-NPs are released by a simple temperature change, resulting in synthetic antibody mimics exhibiting high specificity and selectivity for trypsin.
In this article we present a model for molecularly imprinted polymers, which considers both complexation processes in the pre-polymerization mixture and adsorption in the imprinted structures within a single consistent framework. As a case study we investigate MAA/EGDMA polymers imprinted with pyrazine and pyrimidine. A polymer imprinted with pyrazine shows substantial selectivity towards pyraz...
This paper presents the fabrication of a molecularly imprinted, polymer-based disposable electrochemical sensor for paraoxon (PO) determination. The sensor was based on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) modified with a surface molecularly imprinted poly (p-aminothiophenol) (PATP)/gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) composite film, which consisted of a PATP outer layer and an AuNPs inner layer. We...
A facile and highly efficient approach to obtain narrowly dispersed hydrophilic and magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer microspheres with molecular recognition ability in a real biological sample as good as what they show in the organic solvent-based media is described for the first time.
A novel molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) of high interest for room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) sensing systems is described; the synthesized MIP contains iodine as internal heavy atom in the polymeric structure and its applicability for RTP sensing of fluoranthene at microg L(-1) levels is demonstrated.
