in the course of a faunistic survey of oribatid mites in mazandaran province, iran, five species belonging to the genus hermanniella berlese were collected and identified, of which the following four species are new records for the fauna of iran: h. grandis sitnikova, h. granulata (nicolet), h. septentrionalis berlese and h. serrata sitnikova.

a faunistic study of the order thysanoptera was conducted in cereal crop fields of the southwestern iranian province of khuzestan during 2007-2009. the species florithrips traegardhi (trybom) was collected from various grasses including corn, rice and wheat and later found its genus and species are new records for iran.

during 2004-2005, a faunistic study was carried out on the edaphic mites in sorche-hesar forest park of tehran. a total of 14 species belonging to 10 families were collected and identified, of which four species, viz. iphidozercon corticalis evans, dendrolealaps populi walker, holaspina alstoni evans and rhodacarellus silesiacus willmann, are new records for iran.

Some previous and recent collections of bitunicate ascomycetes from China were examined. Saccardoella psidiicola is described as a new species. Dothidotthia ramulicola, Macrovalsaria megalospora, Phaeosphaeria eustomoides and Plowrightia periclymeni are recorded for the first time from China.

angelica urumiensis mozaff. and eryngium iranicum mozaff. are described as new species from iran. aphanopleura trachysperma boiss. and pastinaca sativa l. subsp. urens (req. ex gordon) čelak are reported as new records from iran.

five oppiid mite species (oribatida: oppiidae) belonging to three genera (corynoppia, ramusella and rhinoppia) are reported as new records for the mite fauna of iran. some of their morphological features and distributions in the world are presented. a key to the subfamilies, genera and species of all iranian oppiid mites is given.
