This paper contains a close look at Koskenniemi’s Two-level morphol ogy from a linguistic point of view. The model will be compared to three other traditional, linguistic morphological models, lA , IP and WP. It will be shown that there are linguistic phenomena that can hardly be handled by some of the just mentioned models, and not at all in a linguistically satisfactory manner by the Two-lev...

We consider graph complexes with a flow and compute their cohomol-ogy. More specifically, we prove that for a PROP generated by a Koszul dioperad, the corresponding graph complex gives a minimal model of the PROP. We also give another proof of the existence of a minimal model of the bialgebra PROP from [14]. These results are based on the useful notion of a 1 2 PROP introduced by Kontsevich in ...

We present a fast hadronization model for the constituent quark plasma (CQP) produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions at SPS. The model is based on rate equations and on a confining equation of state inspired by the string phenomenol-ogy. We display the time evolution of the relevant physical quantities during the hadronization process and the final hadron multiplicities. The results indic...

Grand unified theories (GUTs) can lead to non-universal gaugino masses at the unification scale. We study the implications of such non-universal gaugino masses for the composition of the lightest neutralino in supersymmetric (SUSY) theories based on SU (5) gauge group. We also consider the phenomenological implications of non-universal gaugino masses for the phenomenol-ogy of Higgs bosons in th...

A brief survey of the emerging field termed ”Control of Chaos” is given based on about 200 publications in peer reviewed journals. Three major branches of research are discussed in detail: ”nonfeedback control” (based on periodic excitation of the system); ”OGY method” (based on linearization of Poincar é map) and ”Pyragas method” (based on a time-delay feedback). Some unsolved problems concern...

This set of lectures provides an overview of the basic theory and phenomenol-ogy of the cosmic microwave background. Topics include a brief historical review; the physics of temperature and polarization fluctuations; acoustic oscillations of the primordial plasma; the space of inflationary cosmological models; current and potential constraints on these models from the microwave background; and ...
