Four carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas spp. were isolated from patients in Singapore. One Pseudomonas putida isolate contained a bla(IMP-1) identical to that first described in Japan. The sequence of a variant bla(IMP-1) in Pseudomonas fluorescens contained four silent mutations compared with the original sequence. The remaining P. putida isolates contained bla(VIM-6), a novel VIM gene variant.

We describe the draft genome sequence of Pseudomonas putida strain LS46, a novel isolate that synthesizes medium-chain-length polyhydroxyalkanoates. The draft genome of P. putida LS46 consists of approximately 5.86 million bp, with a G+C content of 61.69%. A total of 5,316 annotated genes and 5,219 coding sequences (CDS) were identified.

Biodesulfurization was monitored in a recombinant Pseudomonas putida CECT5279 strain. DszB desulfinase activity reached a sharp maximum at the early exponential phase, but it rapidly decreased at later growth phases. A model two-step resting-cell process combining sequentially P. putida cells from the late and early exponential growth phases was designed to significantly increase biodesulfuriza...

LapA is the largest surface adhesion protein of Pseudomonas putida that initiates biofilm formation. Here, by using transposon insertion mutagenesis and a conditional lapA mutant, we demonstrate for the first time that LapA influences chloral hydrate (CH) dechlorination in P. putida LF54.

The regions from positions 1391 to 1545 and 1620 to 1865 (Escherichia coli numbers) of the 23S ribosomal DNA sequences have been analyzed for a number of Pseudomonas fluorescens and P. putida isolates. Variability was observed only in three smaller regions from positions 1484 to 1508, 1531 to 1542, and 1714 to 1748, corresponding to helices 58, 59, and 63, respectively, where up to 53% dissimil...

Adapted Pseudomonas putida strains grew in the presence of up to 6% (vol/vol) butanol, the highest reported butanol concentration tolerated by a microbe. P. putida might be an alternative host for biobutanol production, overcoming the primary limitation of currently used strains-insufficient product titers due to low butanol tolerance.

Pseudomonas putida is a member of the fluorescent pseudomonads known to produce the yellow-green fluorescent pyoverdine siderophore. P. putida W15Oct28, isolated from a stream in Brussels, was found to produce compound(s) with antimicrobial activity against the opportunistic pathogens Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae, an unusual characte...

Pseudomonas putida KT2440 is frequently used in biotechnical research and applications due to its metabolic versatility and organic solvent resistance. A major drawback for a broad application is the inability of the bacterium to survive and grow under anoxic conditions, which prohibits the production of oxygen-sensitive proteins and metabolites. To develop a P. putida strain, which is able to ...

According to in silico analysis, the genome of Pseudomonas putida KT2440 encodes at least four Zn/Cd/Pb efflux transporters-two P-type ATPases (CadA1 and CadA2) and two czc chemiosmotic transporters (CzcCBA1 and CzcCBA2). In this study we showed that all these transporters are functional, but under laboratory conditions only two of them were involved in the mediation of heavy metal resistance i...
