We have investigated the detailed structure of l-plane singularities of scattering amplitude saturating the Froissart bound. A self-consistent analysis of these singularities provides us secondary terms in the Froissart bound. These secondary terms lead to ghosts in the l-plane, which can only be removed by introducing an odderon singularity. Phenomenological implications of this analysis are a...

Within the framework of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, we consider an electroweak symmetry breaking pattern in which there is no conventional µ term. The pattern is made appealing through realizing it as a low energy effective description of a supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory which is of confinement. Phenomenological implications are discussed.

This analysis combines phenomenological and sociological research for an investigation of the social relationship of “friendship”. From a phenomenological perspective, it focuses on the epistemological basis, on the subjective constitution of the phenomenon of “friendship”. The social construction of friendship however, is described from a sociological research perspective with reference to con...

A relation between nuclear forces derived using a phenomenological approach and nuclear effective field theory (NEFT) is proposed from a renormalization group point of view. A phenomenological nuclear force (Vph) and an NEFT-based NN-potential (VEFT ) are satisfactorily related to each other through the Wilsonian renormalization group (WRG) method. It is clearly shown that use of the simple con...

A simple tensorial contraction method has been developed to obtain analytical formulae for X-ray resonant magnetic scattering. First, the method has been applied considering electric dipole-dipole and electric quadrupole-quadrupole scattering in the isolated-atom approximation. The results have been compared with previous work. The same method has then been extended to non-spherical systems by ...

In this article, I argue that intentional psychology (i.e. the interpretation of human behaviour in terms of intentional states and propositional attitudes) plays an essential role in the sciences of the mind. However, this role is not one of identifying scientifically respectable states of the world. Rather, I argue that intentional psychology acts as a type of phenomenological model, as oppos...

Results are reported on the transverse target-spin asymmetry associated with deeply virtual Compton scattering on the proton, extracted from the data accumulated by the HERMES experiment in the years 2002-2004. By comparing the HERMES results and theoretical predications based on a phenomenological model of generalized parton distributions, a model-dependent constraint on the total angular mome...

In this paper I investigate the representation of self-consciousness in the still life tradition in the Netherlands around the time of Descartes’ residence there. I treat the paintings of this tradition as both a phenomenological resource and as a phenomenological undertaking in their own right. I begin with an introductory overview of the still life tradition, with particular attention to semi...

It is fairly well recognized that Edmund Husserl (1859-1938) and Martin Heidegger (18891976) were the two giants of phenomenological philosophy during the 20 century. The beginning of the movement took place, of course, with Husserl’s publication of his Logical Investigations, and Heidegger was his student who likewise first achieved worldwide fame in the twenties and thirties of the last centu...

Researchers have identified several problems with the Grounded Theory Method, which include fundamental concerns about its ontological foundations and epistemological stance. Many IS researchers consider such issues unproblematic or are unaware of them. This situation is compounded by the fact it is employed selectively as part of positivist, post-positivist or interpretivist research approache...
