A universal and label-free photoelectrochemical cytosensing strategy was designed based on resonance energy transfer (RET) between carbon dots and cysteamine capped gold nanoparticles. RET promoted photo-to-current conversion efficiency and enhanced detection sensitivity. This proposed photoelectrochemical cytosensing platform exhibited a good performance for the assay of tumor cells with overe...

Photo responsive polyethyl vinyl ketone (PEVK) and various block copolymers were prepared through the visible light induced cobalt mediated radical polymerization (CMRP) process. The first order kinetics and linear increase in molecular weight with conversion demonstrated a well-behaved system. Chain extension experiments showed the retention of the living end of PEVK.

Cyanostilbene modified with dimethylaniline (CMD) could self-assemble into vesicles and fibrous morphologies depending on the solvophobic properties. Furthermore, morphology of well-defined nanostructures could be changed with enhanced emission triggered by the photo-isomerization of cyanostilbene. The present system has potential for building luminescent color conversion materials.

A NiS/Ni3S2 nanorod composite array that directly grows on Ni foil has been used as a counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells; these nickel sulfide nanorods exhibit excellent photo-electrical conversion efficiency when compared with conventional noble-metal Pt electrodes.

Permanent binary phase masks with planar surfaces and high tolerance to laser radiation are recorded in the volume of photo-thermo-refractive glass using the contact copying technique and binary amplitude master masks. Conversion of a Gaussian beam to higher order modes is shown.

This communication describes a highly stable ZnO/Ta2O5 photoanode with Ta2O5 deposited by atomic layer deposition. The ultrathin Ta2O5 protective layer prevents corrosion of ZnO and reduces surface carrier recombination, leading to a nearly two-fold increase of photo-conversion efficiency. The transparency of Ta2O5 to sunlight is identified as the main reason for the excellent stability of the ...

Aligned CuO nanowires (NWs) were synthesized by a simple cost-effective oxidation method. They act as cores; high density CuO/ZnO core/shell heterostructure NWs were fabricated by thermal decomposition. Using the core/shell heterostructure NWs as a photoelectrode, a 0.71% photo-to-hydrogen conversion efficiency was obtained from photoelectrochemical water decomposition.

Degradation in a high efficiency polymer solar cell is caused by the formation of states in the bandgap. These states increase the energetic disorder in the system. The power conversion efficiency loss does not occur when current is run through the device in the dark but occurs when the active layer is photo-excited.

The degradation mechanism of 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) as implemented in the Master Chemical Mechanism version 3.1 (MCM) was evaluated using data from the environmental chamber at the Paul Scherrer Institute. The results show that the MCM provides a consistent description of the photo-oxidation of TMB/NO x mixtures for a 5 range of conditions. In all cases the agreement between the measureme...
