ナシ樹の抜根跡地における補植において早期に高収量を得るための仕立て法を開発した．1か所につき3樹を株状に定植する1株3樹植え1本主枝仕立てでは，慣行の3本主枝仕立てに比べて，定植後の新梢生育が促進され，側枝が増加した．その結果，定植後3～5年目には慣行仕立てに比べ高収量が得られ，定植5年後には収量と果実品質は成園並みとなった．1本主枝仕立ては3本主枝に比べて樹勢が強く，新梢発生が旺盛であり，定植後早期に側枝を確保することができるため，早期多収が可能となったと考えられた．これらの結果から，慣行の3本主枝仕立ての圃場内への補植の際には，1株3樹植え1本主枝仕立てが早期多収のために有効であると考えられた．
